As a Barclays Intraday Risk C++ Software Engineer you will be working as part of an established team to produce a consistent risk layout, reflecting the trader’s exposure and enabling mitigation of risk. You will ensure that the software releases are both timely and of a high quality. With a heavy emphasis on both technical and communication skills, you will be expected to work closely with other developers, business analysts and trade floor support staff across all regions in a controlled, transparent and actively risk managed fashion.

This opportunity is location flexible. We will consider requests for locating the role at an alternative Barclays’ key UK office from that advertised.

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?

  • You will be responsible for analysis, design, and software development across a range of projects in the Intraday Risk space
  • Working with the business, analysts, peers and project managers to understand and deliver requirements
  • Ensuring that software designs are well documented and shared appropriately across the whole team
  • Ensuring high code quality and unit test coverage
  • Driving continuous improvement of processes
  • Ensuring adherence to technical standards & SDLC including quality measures
  • Raising change requests and carrying out releases
  • Third line production support

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent C++ and general programming skills
  • Proven track record of developing large-scale, low latency, high throughput, performant systems
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft development tools
  • Degree level qualification

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

  • C# and Java skills
  • Background working in Finance, or other area with a significant focus on numerical data, particularly risk
  • Experience and knowledge of Agile project management principals and practice including use of Jira, as well as Dev Ops technologies such as TeamCity and GIT
  • Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Solace, databases and data grids
