Java Developer

As a Barclays Java Developer, you will be joining Post Trade team within Cash Settlements and Payments Technology (CSPT) Business area. You will be instrumental in implementing the technology necessary to efficiently process cash settlements resulting from trading activity in its Investment Bank and Corporate Banking Divisions. Our aim is to provide the business with a consolidated platform to manage all cash settlements, capable of handling several million transactions per day.

What will you be doing?

• Developing codes in line with the stories that have been agreed as part of the delivery team
• Engaging in providing solutions to the stories that have been submitted
• Actively engaging in the delivery process and collaborate with other delivery team members to make sure that the focus is on business value delivery
• Actively making sure that all development is in line with Barclays & CSPT Standards
• Providing, Mentoring and coaching for Junior team members
• Providing Level Three Support as and when required across CSPT applications
• Being able to communicate and escalate issues
• Handling challenging situations, e.g. resistance to change, due to nature of STP/Efficiencies or changing mind set on technical solution or approach.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in Java Development
• Exposure to SQL
• Good English language skills to communicate with multiple international locations
• Ability and desire to get involved in all phases of development lifecycle, from sprint planning, through to design, estimation and testing

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

• Experience working in an Agile Development environment (Scrum/Kanban/XP)
• Ability and willingness to take ownership for development tasks within the team and liaise with relevant colleagues/teams to secure successful acceptance and delivery
• Ability to identify feasible options, problem solve and collaborate to get agreement or make necessary decisions
• Willingness to learn new techniques in the development area
