Technical Engineering Lead

As a Barclays Technical Engineering Lead, your role is to plan and perform engineering tasks to build and manage ETL workflows on Hadoop and Cloud for one or more components of a program and/or transaction cycle business process and/ or specialist applications. You will work as in interface between Developers, Engineers, Operations and Support teams. You should be passionate about architecting, designing and developing Cloud solutions.

Hybrid Working

What will you be doing?

• Strictly following Agile development/delivery process and guiding team on the same lines
• Working on domain based design/development on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure etc.
• Managing ETL workflows and hydrate data in Data Lake for Markets business
• Developing the ETL pipeline on Hadoop and AWS platforms
• Facing off to one or more business areas/SME’s and understand high level requirements
• Innovating and owning design/architecting solutions and ensure delivery from requirement to successful completion

What We’re Looking For

• Broad experience of working with Risk, Finance and Treasury functions and exposure to regulatory reporting systems would be advantageous
• Good knowledge of cloud architectures, cloud technology standards and have an advanced technical acumen to have technical conversations with Delivery Leads
• Hands on experience in delivering applications/solutions on AWS, Azure etc.
• Hands on experience on Data Visualization and data analytics tools such as QlickView, Tableau, etc.

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

• Proven knowledge on ETL and Data Modelling
• Broad experience on Data Warehousing and Data Architecture
• Broad knowledge of programming languages like Java, Python, Scala, SQL and good experience in designing distributed computing based data heavy applications
• Experience managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring the delivery of team assignments are completed in a timely matter per agreed upon SLA

Where will you be working?

Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we’ve been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997.

We purchased the building from the landlord in early 2018 as a sign of our commitment to investment in Northampton. Plans to further develop this Campus-style location are under way to allow for a real collaborative work environment. Based just off the A45 it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
