Do you have a passion for all things audio? Are you a dedicated and commercially focused business development professional?

We are looking for a talented and commercially focused individual to join us as Business Development and Partnerships Manager in the BBC Commercial, Rights and Business Affairs (CRBA) team, with an initial focus on audio content. This is a permanent role based in London or Salford.

We are introducing a new Business Development & Partnerships team embedded within CRBA focused on increasing value for audiences and return on investments. The team will bring senior commercial expertise to support the BBC’s commercial ambitions and partnerships. The primary focus of the Business Development and Partnerships Manager will be to build the BBC’s audio commercial business maintaining and growing revenue driving opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity at a pivotal time for the BBC. You will be instrumental in helping the BBC to effectively and efficiently manage, and maximise the value of, its Intellectual Property, via the commercial routes that supplement BBC’s public services, both in the UK and globally.

Although you may be assigned to a particular CRBA area and workload, from time to time you may be required to work in other areas of CRBA to broaden knowledge, skills and experience.

All CRBA colleagues are ‘agile workers’ and our expectation is that they will work an average of 2-3 day per week in BBC buildings.

Role Responsibility

As Business Development and Partnerships Manager you will support the creation and implementation of the commercial strategy, develop commercial projects and help support the wider CRBA Content team. This is a key role managing internal and external stakeholder relationships, identifying opportunities, delivering a budget, negotiating deals, and developing agreements with internal and external commercial partners. You will be responsible for the delivery of key revenue lines such as live events, digital audio partnerships, and podcast – TV formats.

Are you the right candidate?

In addition to the Job Description, to be successful in this role the following skills, knowledge, and experience are essential:

  • Sound experience of managing partnerships and commercial deals through all stages – sourcing, pitching, negotiating, closing and contracting with 3rd parties;
  • Experienced at financial modelling and the handling of commercial data and reporting;
  • Have a passion for and firm understanding of the international audio landscape, alongside a keen interest in the wider content market;
  • Naturally focussed and sales – oriented;
  • Strong account management skills;
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management;
  • Naturally ambitious, resilient and a creative problem solver;
  • A track record of identifying appropriate business leads.

In addition to the Job Description, the following are desirable:

  • An understanding of programme making and deal making across both in-house and independent programmes;
  • Knowledge of contractual and copyright matters including rights and clearances;
  • Line manager experience;
  • A track record of delivering complex projects on time.

Location: Flexible – can be based in London or Salford with some flexibility – ie hybrid working
