If you could transform a great city, how would you do it?

Birmingham is a city on the move. Join our Transport Services team and you can go further too. We’re a city that leads the way. And at Birmingham City Council, we’re investing a billion pounds in game-changing transportation projects. From HS2 to Birmingham Airport, we’re growing bigger and better. Together, we can keep millions connected for years to come.

Combining consultation with project management, your skills could be the heart of delivering transport. You can look forward to getting involved in a wide range of projects and programmes, working closely with senior leaders and delivery partners to develop and implement projects. The management of budgets and financial resources will be a key focus. While ensuring we adhere to standards, guidelines and contract conditions, there’s also the opportunity to nurture innovative approaches and solutions.

An expert in transport infrastructure, you offer senior-level experience of technical and service delivery. You’re a Chartered or appropriately qualified Civil Engineer, with a track-record of managing major projects and programmes, including human and financial resources. Experience of monitoring performance is essential. You are also adept at communicating and consulting with clients, developers, stakeholders and the citizens.

Thrive in an environment that promotes diversity and inclusivity, healthy lifestyle choices, wellbeing and balance. We’ll empower you to be the best you can be, with coaching, mentoring and training programmes that meet your professional and personal development needs at every stage of your career with us.

We also offer:

  • Family friendly policies.
  • A range of benefits, including membership of the West Midlands Pension Fund, discounted gym membership and a confidential employee assistance programme.
  • 29 days’ annual leave increasing with length of service, plus the option to purchase additional days.

You must upload a CV and Supporting Statement via the miscellaneous attachment on to your application. This is required for shortlisting; you need to describe how your experience and skills fit the essential criteria for the role as specified in the Person Specification. If you do not attach your Supporting Statement, your application will not be considered.
