A unique opportunity has arisen within the Authority’s Network Resilience and Management Team.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer the post holder of this newly created role will take a lead responsibility for introducing statutory and commercial elements that ensure the Council complies with the requirements of the Traffic Management Act 2004, Highways Act 1980, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Town Police Clauses Act 1847.

The successful candidate will be part of a team managing the highway network and will assist in promoting an integrated approach to network management across the district, taking operational responsibility for co-ordinating highway enforcement contractors, coring programmes, liaison with external developers and utility companies and developing minor commercial revenue programmes.

They will also assist with legal aspects of highway network operation, including dealing with enforcement of failures to comply with legislative requirements relating to skips, overhanging vegetation, obstructions on the highway and illegal vehicular crossings.

Appropriate training will be offered where necessary.

Experience of working in Civil Engineering and a multi-agency environment dealing with complex issues on a daily basis is essential to the post.

A good standard of IT literacy of Microsoft Office programs is required including the ability to produce spreadsheets and written reports as well as familiarity with the use of street works noticing systems and GIS systems.

A full driving license and the ability to drive to sites around the District is essential.
