About This Role

BT is going through a transformation – and data is at the heart. We’re simplifying our products, transforming our customer journeys, modernising our IT and networks and decommissioning legacy platforms. The Data & Analytics Enablement Tribe is underpinning this transformation by creating data as an asset – on par with our network, people and brands. The Tribe’s mission is to enable Value Stream tribes to access data and use data and analytics capabilities powerfully, by addressing the key challenges they face: feature-rich and scalable technologies; data availability and quality; the skills needed to make the most of it; and end to end governance

Within the Data & Analytics Enablement Tribe, the Data Change and Culture Squad is responsible for helping our people to adopt a data driven culture and data-driven mindset. We want to ensure the changes land effectively by applying human centred service design into our initiatives and behavioural intervention. As we live by the Digital Way Principles, we are on our journey to be more customer obsessed in delivering people-first transformation programmes. We recognise human centred design is essential to make change stick in individuals and team dynamics.

The primary goal of this critical role is to support the Data Acceleration programme, one of the most radical and influential transformations BT is ever going to go through – and data is at the heart. You will be responsible for helping us establish a data driven culture and adopt a data-driven mindset. We want to ensure the changes land effectively building on methods we have been applying successfully in our human centred service design. Our Data Change and Culture Squad will connect with functional and change leaders across the business to help them plan their initiatives, support them as they pilot and go through change, and provide assurance as they move towards fully embedding the changes.

The Communication and Engagement Professional is responsible for enabling the delivery of a robust Data and Artificial Intelligence (Data & AI) communications strategy. Your role is to inspire, inform and involve key stakeholders with an understanding of key milestones, events, learning interventions to enable them to go on the journey with us. You will help deliver the comms and engagement plan driving content creation. Co-create user centric communications for Data & AI to help our users (as depicted in our data personas), technology custodians and data consumers, and citizens to effectively access and engage with the newly established and/or improved ways of working as we embed a data-driven culture.

You’ll Have The Following Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary transformation team bringing comms and engagement expertise.
  • Support the development and delivery of the Data & AI Comms and Engagement Strategy.
  • Creatively develop a purposeful visual brand for Data and AI so that our users and stakeholders can relate and connect with Data & AI.
  • Creating and delivering compelling communications and engagement content (including video, news stories, briefing packs, social media, talking points) in the BT tone of voice.
  • Be customer-obsessed by taking a human-centered approach to the design and delivery of content.
  • Understand and build relationships with your stakeholders so that content is aligned to our priorities and within the correct tone of voice.
  • Actively working as part of the Data Change and Culture team.
  • You will be an active learner that is proactive and self-driven in the delivery of services to stakeholders and your own professional development
  • You’ll need to be enthusiastic, creative and resilient, and able to work well in a collaborative and complex environment. In return, you’ll have the opportunity to be at the heart of a ground-breaking transformation that enjoys brilliant sponsorship and is focused on making a fantastic difference

Skills & Experience

  • Be great at stakeholder management and an awesome collaborator.
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Be a creative thinker – able to think outside the box, find creative solutions to challenges and always looking for new and fresh ideas to improve comms and engagement activities so that we can drive advocacy.
  • A passion for storytelling and an ability to weave many individual stories into a compelling narrative.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at helping stakeholders to arrive at clear and compelling messaging.
  • Understand the value of compelling content and using multiple channels to reach diverse audiences within a large, complex organisation.
  • Able to develop an understanding of end user needs and using this insight to create content that achieves project goals.
  • Have excellent plain English skills with a strong understanding of grammar.
  • Be comfortable working in a busy, project environment with evolving priorities, competing stakeholders and tight timelines.
  • Be comfortable with failure as we will experiment regularly, trying things we’ve never done before. Most of the time things will go great, occasionally they won’t – and that’s ok. You’ll share what you learn along the way with the wider team
  • Be passionate about engaging and inspiring people.
  • Demonstratable experience for delivering key messages to a varied audience.
  • Experience in creating content using a variety of mediums for delivery.
