About This Role

This role provides business partnering to the Marketing and Product functions focusing on our Broadband and Fixed Voice business with the aim of optimising value through proposition, pricing and cost efficiencies.

You will look to challenge and drive the business forward on key commitments, as well as providing expertise in financial modelling given the complexity in this area and how it affects other areas of the business.

We are looking for candidates who can be comfortable presenting at Director level. It is also essential that the role holder keeps the business abreast with the key KPIs of the P&L and key trends, so that we can create compelling and relevant propositions for customers that are insight based, and we can address P&L issues in a timely manner.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Business casing for strategic programmes and also shorter term tactical initiatives
  • Business partners with senior managers in Marketing and Product responsible for the relevant cases
  • Takes a lead role on Marketing overlays which feed into budgets and rolling Risks and Ops forecasts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Accountable for stewarding, leading and partnering with the business, ensuring all business activities are carried out in accordance with local legislative requirements, which enhance and protect BT for now and the future
  • Lead on and work with the Marketing team to develop Initiatives to drive P&L growth.
  • Closely interact with Commercial FP&A team ensuring all changes are related to the base are sufficiently communicated and understood
  • Manages and attempts to mitigate any delays and issues with relevant cases given strategic and financial importance
  • Takes decisions and exercises own judgement well, takes personal ownership & accountability for work undertaken
  • Works with high level of authority on fairly complex issues, can work independently whilst seeking appropriate support where necessary. Responds quickly and adapts to changing circumstances & requirements

Skills And Experience

  • Advanced financial modelling (excel) skills – ability to build/manipulate detailed models to arrive at appropriate outputs/metrics to support decision making
  • Proven ability to influence and coach business partners and build key relationships
  • Communication skills – translating complex financial outcomes to senior financial and non-financial stakeholders through both oral and written communication. Ability to tailor message to the relevant audience, distilling key messages without losing the appropriate level of detail
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships
  • Demonstrable professionalism with a proven ability to operate in a complex, fast paced matrixed business environment
  • Able to identify issues, get to root causes through the use of financial analysis and insight to diagnose and solve problems
  • Bias towards bold and confident thinking, challenging the status quo where appropriate
  • Patience and experience of navigating large, complex organisational structures
  • Able to deal with ambiguity, identify resources to implement and determine pragmatic solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good influencer within peer group and contacts
  • Background in Commercial related roles preferable
  • Qualified accountant e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA

Experience You Would Be Expected To Have

  • Excel modelling skills – ability to build/manipulate detailed models to arrive at appropriate outputs/metrics to support decision making
  • Experience of business partnering – Proven ability to influence and coach business partners and build key relationships, as well as translating complex financial outcomes to senior financial and nonfinancial stakeholders
  • Experience of financial and P&L management, understanding how commercial decisions and trends affect short and long term financial performance
