About This Role

This is a hybrid role in Birmingham, Manchester, London, Leeds or Bristol.

As a Flutter Lead with strong Flutter and Front-End development experience, you will be responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining front end interfaces to support our digital experiences. You will help drive our Group wide and cross brand Design System initiative and enable our Consumer delivery squads by producing components, frameworks, and tooling.

You will contribute to transforming our working culture and digital presence using agile ways of working. You will mentor developers, support the achievement of team service level targets by owning the completion of all assigned work requests, including testing, quality checking and delivering all assigned tasks within the agreed timescales.

You Will Have The Following Responsibilities

Write code using Flutter framework from an approved requirement and design

Write unit tests and other automated tests

Coaching, mentoring and Peer review software written by team members

Work collaboratively with the Accessibility Team to ensure that solutions are compliant with WCAG at level AA, as a minimum and ensuring coding standards and compliant development practices are all followed, including regular performance reviews and feedback to your Engineering Manager

Lead the technical direction and strategy for products and services you support

Single point of contact for discussion around design and architecture

Investigation and resolution of production incidents

Deliver tooling improvements for the delivery pipeline

Technical design of solutions to business requirements

Contribute to the roadmap of our vendors’ products

You Will Have The Following Skills & Experience

2+ years commercial knowledge/experience building Flutter apps and Dart

4+ years prior experience of native iOS, Swift/Objective C and/or Android, Java/Kotlin

Experience in leading technical development teams and driving software delivery improvements, with technical and behavioural leadership experience

Proven experience with and demonstrable understanding of WCAG 2 -0 AA compliance and WAI-ARIA

Front End Framework design experience

Strong experience with JavaScript, HTML and CSS as well as developing RESTful services

Software design and development experience of integration with web services

Experience of DevOps, involving automated testing and CI/CD (Gitlab)

Have a good knowledge of unit testing frameworks and supporting technologies

Analytical and problem-solving skills to engineer efficient and maintainable solutions to business requirements

Good communication skills – written and verbal, especially the ability to communicate complicated technical requirements to the business

stakeholders and project teams in non-technical language

Good level of knowledge/experience of Agile software development and supporting best practices.

Ability to contribute to ongoing process improvement activities in the team and look for ways to make a difference

Confidence to challenge and support decisions and requirements
