Why this job matters

In this role you will

 ensure seamless introduction of software and hardware into the EE mobile Radio Access Network (RAN)

 accept new software and hardware on behalf of our customers and network operations

 design, create and implement operational support models for new mobile projects to keep EE as the #1 Network in the UK

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities / Skills required for the job

  • Safeguard the availability and performance of the EE Radio Access Network whilst software and hardware upgrades are designed, planned and implemented
  • Assure introduction of new software ensuring the operations managed service provider and vendors are engaged as part of the systems introduction process. Approve Engineering Release Notes, Shape and accept testing plans, approving or rejecting rollout gates, always keeping the risk to customer experience uppermost. Provide operations sign off for all software upgrades
  • Be the voice of the customer for innovative RAN solutions being introduced into the live network environment and ensure an appropriate operational support model is identified and put in place, including dependencies on IT deliverables
  • Support design, development and implementation of operational support models for new projects in an ITIL compliant manner, and in all cases, ensuring appropriate Service Designs are delivered
  • Ensure that our legacy networks are appropriately managed from a spare parts management perspective by supporting the critical spares processes and providing appropriate budget forecasts
  • Good background of mobile access network technologies
  • Good understanding of network performance KPIs
  • Strong influencing and communication skills

  • Operational experience in a mobile operator.
  • Experience of working with managed service partners and vendors
  • Good working understanding of the ITIL framework.

Preferred

  • Good technical understanding of mobile RAN hardware
  • Technical understanding of legacy 2G/4G mobile networks and network architecture

Key decisions

  • Key decisions will arise as part of this role scope primarily at project level and relating to quality gate ‘go no-go’ decisions
