Why this Job Matters?

This role is the key role facing into our Global division defining the commercial architecture. This covers from digital marketing, through to lead and, opportunity and offer generation up to signing the contract with a customer. It also defines how our in-life contract and bill/invoicing architecture works for the customer.

Its an exciting job that works with specialist domain architects on individual technologies, but this role is key to bring it all together for Global to enable it to grow and support our customers needs.

This role is key to ensure consistency pan BT and is essential to get alignment of how we exploit DPA across BT.

Specific Job Requirements

1 – Defines the Global architecture for sales and commercial activities.

2 – To lead the architecture direction of our sales transformation journey to massively simplify the process and drive automation with data / AI driven journeys.

3 – Lead on how to use Salesforce and Vlocity for Global, with focus on speeding up product role out and performance of the system.

  • Drive the wider transformation of the commercial landscape including billing and contract management

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities?

Architecture

  • Provide a Global specific lens of the IT architecture landscape showing relevance to CFU goals and strategies.
  • Provide CFU directional input to the overall IT architecture direction.
  • You will have a a broad knowledge being deep in some areas, the ability to learn quickly and adapt are key to this role
  • Owns the IT architecture relationship into the CFU CIO organisation, working with them as a trusted advisor on their CFU technical strategy
  • Tailors existing architectural patterns to meet the specific needs of the CFU, creating new only where needed and sharing back learnings to foster a culture of re-use and common approach
  • Developing and maintaining realisable CFU-centric capability based roadmaps spanning a 3-5 year horizon
  • Supporting the selection of any IT vendors, suppliers and partners for your area and managing the practice of architecture through these parties where they impact your domain
  • Driving Enterprise Architecture and supporting business case development of signature ready vehicles that deliver timely, fit for purpose strategic transformations in business capability to senior stakeholders
  • Maintaining and communicating up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, skills change, and emerging technologies within your area of expertise

Leadership

  • Collaborating and specifying the organisation’s vision, goals, opportunities and related activities in order to maximize the business benefits of Enterprise Architecture initiatives to the organisation across your domain. This would cover all lines of business and covers all key customer journeys
  • Ensure peers and the Solution Architect community is fully aware of the latest IT strategy and EA guidance within your domain
  • Working with an innovation community across your domain including BT Research technical specialists, CIO, analysts and partners to develop an awareness of, and learn the potential and maturity of technology innovation for BT
  • Driving consistency and re-use across the B2B team specifically

Governance

  • Defining company architecture policies for acquiring or developing systems, network equipment, or software within the company for your area. Responsible for consistency to BT enterprise level standards, best practice and consistency
  • Ensuring BT remains compliant to Legal, Regulatory and Security requirements Capabilities required for the job

Qualifications And General Skills

  • Hands on experience of Salesforce/Vlocity, with understanding of best practice of things like ESM, product modelling and decomposition, attribute based pricing configuration, integration through dataraptors, OmiScripts and Vlocity ordering.
  • STEM related Bachelor’s degree or a related study, or equivalent experience
  • Customer focused: You will understand customer (internal and external) needs and keep customer satisfaction at the forefront of your work
  • Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models
  • Good understanding of other technologies currently used like Medallia, Ciena Blue Planet, contract management systems, and how they integrate together.
  • Good understanding of OpenAPI and TMF API standards.

Enterprise Architecture

  • Captures and prioritises market and environmental trends, business strategies and objectives, and identifies the business benefits of alternative strategies. Establishes the contribution that technology can make to business objectives, conducting feasibility studies, producing high-level business models, and preparing business cases
  • Leads the creation and review of a systems capability strategy that meets the strategic requirements of the business. Develops enterprise-wide architecture and processes that ensure that the strategic application of change is embedded in the management of the organisation, ensuring the buy-in of all stakeholders.
  • Develops and presents business cases, for high-level initiatives, for approval, funding and prioritisation. Ensures compliance between business strategies, transformation activities and technology directions, setting strategies, policies, standards and practices
  • Good commercial acumen to supporting review of budgets and project portfolio investment roadmap to ensure alignment of the Enterprise Architecture and the fitness for purpose of the IT strategy.

  • Volunteered for extra responsibility such as project team involvement/leadership
  • Experience as an Enterprise Architect 10+ years, including working as an Enterprise Architect in a large corporate organisation. Evidence of leading material business change through Enterprise Architecture
  • Experience of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks including TOGAF, and their relevance to the practice of Enterprise Architecture. TOGAF certification not essential
  • Experience in running light-touch governance processes in large organizations
  • A broad range of business, data, systems and technology architecture experience
