About The Role

Accountability for delivery of large complex projects requiring management of dependencies across Business Units/BT. Projects are cross functional and strong project management skills with proven methodology are necessary to deliver projects (including all key milestones) on time, within budget and to agreed quality criteria from concept through to market launch and/or transition into the Business as Usual. Delivery will be in a mixture of agile and waterfall, depending on the project and stakeholders.

These projects will deliver significant strategic change and benefits which could be share price impacting. Projects will have specific impact on the Medium Term Plans and success of the Wholesale market unit in Enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers consultancy and conducts analysis for projects, identifying and implementing opportunities for simplification, efficiency and enhancement to deliver business process improvements, customer satisfaction, cost reduction and revenue growth.
  • Applies business process management tools, techniques and methodologies to evaluate existing processes and effectively deliver business process improvements.
  • Conducts testing of processes against agreed specifications, corporate standards, architecture and methods, and makes recommendations for process / procedural improvement.
  • Coordinates the training of others in various business improvement models, following up with coaching as necessary ensure sustainment of new approach.

Specifically, this job is accountable for:-

  • Delivery of projects (including all key milestones) on time, within budget and to agreed quality criteria from concept through to market launch and/or transition into the Business as Usual
  • Set-up and management of project governance, scope, risk and issues, compliance, resource planning and progress reporting, identification of key risks and issues and their escalation
  • Delivery of business benefit in partnership with the project sponsor (usually >£3m)
  • End to end delivery of projects ensuring absolute focus on the desired Business Outcomes/ Deliverables
  • Solve conflict situations through problem-solving, negotiation, open communication and direct influencing with stakeholders within Enterprise up to Director level
  • Undertaking discovery work where the problem/issue is raised and the solution is unknown. Develops Transformation interventions alongside the Director and Senior Manager influencing the change required. Translates the interventions into programmes of work.
  • Will own a portfolio of projects aligned to a particular sales channel or market unit organisational area, including leadership (matrix or direct) of other project managers.

Skills And Experience

  • Taking Ownership and Mitigating issues and Risks: Strong leadership skills in giving direction and making the correct call using data to evidence decision making and mitigating Programme risks
  • Great Communicator of Plans and Delivery Information: Strong skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences

  • Business acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g. business KPIs, business cases)
  • Recognised Project management accreditations.
  • Be agile: Uses collaborative or agile test and learn approaches, contributing to projects and programmes as a subject matter expert or content owner.
  • Own the end to end delivery of projects to agreed time, cost and quality criteria aligned to the Consumer delivery framework, setting up and running project governance and reporting.
  • Focus on business outcomes and drive benefit in partnership with the project sponsor, ensuring where there is deviation the impact on the business benefit is identified and understood
  • Matrix-manage workstream leads and drive strong, open and sustained communications across the wider stakeholder community, resolving conflict through problem-solving, negotiation and direct influencing
  • Liaise with wider project management community to secure alignment on interdependencies and ensure these are tracked and managed across projects
  • Focus on the business change to ensure all change lands excellently within the Channels and ensure the customer experience is protected throughout the project.
  • Lead on high level and detailed project planning that balances ambitious timelines with realistic plans with contingency for the unforeseen, supporting sustainable ways of working across the enterprise
  • Specific experience of delivering technology and organisational change projects and broad knowledge of technology / media / telecoms sector.
  • An understanding of product development life cycle, product design and implementation.
  • Track record of holding Stakeholders at MD and Director Level to account.
  • Experience of coaching skills and coaching and developing project managers
  • Experience of development of processes and roles within associated functional departments
  • Professional project management qualifications are highly recommended. Membership of APM or equivalent organisations is advantageous.

Flexible Working

This role offers a 3 together, 2 wherever working model. This means you are required to be at your contractual location 3 days a week with 2 flexible days per week.
