The role holder will be responsible for supporting the Principal Transformation and Implementation and leading key central transformation activities across the Full Fibre deployment programme which is Openreach’s major transformation build programme with expectations to evolved across the next 10 years +.

You will support the transformation and implementation of individual workstreams which support the Principal, Fibre First and strategy leads in respect of discovery, design, scope and change ensuring you identify risks and issues and identify opportunities for safeguard customers, Openreach and BT.

The role holder will, support and guide the business unit in the execution and delivery of Full Fibre deployment programmes by working in partnership with other transformation and operational teams to deliver high quality work packages aimed at improving the end to end development of work packages to support the Fibre First Programme.

You will support and own the Fibre First/FTTP change control process across the Fibre First team, providing governance and structure across all changes impacting our products, revenue or people to deliver great customer outcomes.

You will support the collection, collation and analysis and presentation of information, and make recommendations on courses of actions across the Fibre First senior team and the wider business.

You’ll Have The Following Responsibilities

  • Responsible for shaping investment and co-investment opportunities across FTTP/Fibre First pan Openreach
  • Ownership of detailed business case creation for FTTP pan Openreach
  • Responsible for forming business cases driving decisions by Fibre First board
  • Support critical strategic approaches – assessment, negotiation and engagement at senior level
  • Contribute to setting the strategic agenda based on competitor and investment landscape and driving right investments which support our FTTP business case
  • Responsible for delivering strategic plans which will have customer, regulatory & financial impacts over the course of 5 – 10 years with multi million pound investments and or revenue generation to Openreach and BT
  • Collaborate with and influence multiple functions to drive the right outcomes for our organisation
  • Maintaining a wide network within and across the business, carrying out senior presentations to internal audiences
  • Work closely with various functions such as FND,SD,CCP, CE & CTIO to solve complex problems e.g. scoping investment cases, guiding through their analysis using a strategic lens
  • Responsible for orchestrating discussions which deliver all aspects of strategic improvement/change initiatives/ discovery activity pan FTTP
  • Use high-level analysis to support business improvement initiatives and evolution to ways of working
  • Identify improvement areas, define solutions, test through proof of concept and pilot stages and ultimately sign-off delivery of an approved solution
  • Lead key business improvement and change programmes linked directly to the business strategy
  • Support the Fibre First Director to establish, monitor and provide the control around the critical success factors that determine the success of the Fibre First Programme
  • To embed a business improvement way of working at all levels of the organisation that delivers sustainable improvement
  • To challenge non-fact based decisions and create both innovative and disciplined ways of working, and ensure a standard and consistent approach to developing transformation solutions
  • To develop and maintain an excellent relationship with key internal/ stakeholders and suppliers as appropriate, including operational teams, CTIO, L&D, HR etc
  • To support and manage a team of transformation/consultancy specialists, providing work packages, guidance and direction, coaching on specific improvement areas and supporting development of business solutions
  • Accountable for delivering an aligned approach across the whole of Openreach in respect of problems, opportunities and challenges which effect fibre pan Openreach
  • Accountable for supporting a team (1-2 FTE) of business improvement / transformation professionals in a way that meets all BT Leadership Framework accountabilities and BT Group values and leadership capabilities
  • Setting the tone for robust, data-driven analysis, clear solution design, rigorous testing and compelling business cases that sets a standard for high quality, deliverable transformation work
  • Accountable for all aspects of the design, development and testing of major change/strategic initiatives within the defined functional discipline.
  • Responsible for developing coherent, cost-effective business solutions to complex problems, based on data-driven insight and root-cause analysis

You’ll Need To Have The Following Skills & Experience

  • The ability to test / challenge current thinking and implement new approaches, practices/policies.
  • Excellent ability to influence decision makers and operational teams
  • Internal experience of negotiating and influencing at a senior level
  • Excellent understanding and use of analytical tools, techniques and behaviours.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment
  • Experience working on investment programmes in excess of £1 billion
  • Excellent ability to lead and direct high performance teams, with strong telco, utilities or large complex infrastructure programme experience and sound understanding of product/ process/ quality/ customer satisfaction knowledge.
  • Recognised authority across the organisation in specific business improvement discipline.
  • Sound understanding of the business environment internally and externally, through operational business experience
  • Strong thought leadership and demonstratable experience managing upwards in a large matrix environment
  • People and programme leadership skills
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience in writing business cases and/or advocating for adoption of transformation / change programmes
  • Experience in process improvement, RCA, process definition and solution design
  • Comprehensive strategy skill set (problem solving, analytics, communication skills – written and oral)
  • Delivering strategic or commercial results in complex stakeholder environments
  • Extremely high level of business acumen and excellent commercial experience/judgement
  • Good understanding of telecoms network technologies
  • Demonstrable experience working on high profile, strategically important projects, including solving complex, unstructured problems
  • Proven influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience leading and managing a team to deliver business outcomes
  • Experience working in multi-discipline and matrix teams with a high degree of variability and ambiguity
