The busy Central Accounts Payable section provides a comprehensive central invoice payment service for the whole Authority and the senior accounts payable officer is an important role which is integral to the provision of that service.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic individual with a keen eye for detail to oversee and lead a team of 3 Accounts Payable Assistants. You will be confident working in a busy payments environment working to strict deadlines and familiar with all aspects of paper and electronic invoice processing and HMRC payments legislation.

You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate processing of supplier invoices together with internally generated payment requests, direct debits, CHAPs payments and interface files in accordance with strictly controlled procedures and carry out all security and control checks.

You will also be responsible for the integrity of the supplier database and the accuracy and prompt execution of payment runs using the Authority’s financial management system, whilst ensuring the adhesion to strict financial controls. You will also be required to transmit the BACS file on occasion, produce cheques and remittance notes, deal with supplier and client enquiries and provide accurate advice on payment related matters.
