An exciting opportunity exists for an assistant manager to become an integrated part of the Deloitte Independence Centre of Excellence within Central Business Services (CBS). Your role

Playing an integral and visible role within the firm, the DISCoE team is responsible for supporting some of the firm’s key audit clients in relation to monitoring, assessing, and documenting non-audit services / relationships and our assessment on their permissibility. The role offers a unique opportunity to work with client service teams across the firm, providing technical advice and guidance to the business including analysing and interpreting the various independence rules to ensure we maintain the firm’s independence policies. You will also be involved in responding to internal and external regulators; monitoring our systems of quality control; improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our processes.

You will have regular exposure to the most senior levels of the firm’s management, including high visibility among the senior partners of the business as well as contacts across Deloitte North South Europe (NSE) and the global Deloitte network (DTTL). In addition, the role offers many opportunities to work collaboratively with other Risk Management groups across the Central Business Services and Quality, Risk & Security community, including Firm Independence, Business Relationships, Ethics and Conflicts.

Given the importance of independence and the increased regulatory scope and focus, this role offers exciting opportunities for the right person, whilst also broadening an understanding of auditor independence requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing audit documentations prepared by senior analysts.
  • Overseeing and managing a team of senior analysts in delivering audit independence support to the clients.
  • Providing advice and guidance to partners and client service engagement teams in technical consultations across all areas of the business, with support from senior team members.
  • Educating and raising awareness of existing and new independence requirements to partners and professional staff.
  • Project management of DISCoE workstreams and/or other key projects, delivering high quality outputs within agreed timescales.
  • Assist managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.

Location: Cardiff

Flexible to include home working, however, there would be occasional requirement for the role holder to travel to office locations for team meetings and collaboration.

Work pattern: This is a 12 month fixed term contract opportunity. The role can be worked on a full-time basis.

Your professional experience

Successful applicants will be/have:

  • An audit, compliance, risk or Independence background would be ideal but not essential
  • Previous knowledge of independence regulations, however, not essential
  • Ability to manage senior Partner relationships and other stakeholders across the firm
  • Ability to deliver projects under time pressure
  • Strong project management, analytical, consultative, decision making and organisational skills
  • Excellence attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under time pressure
  • Strong report writing skills and attention to detail
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong IT skills in Microsoft Office packages
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and good understanding of when best to attend the office for meetings and training.
