We are now looking for an experienced marketer to take on the Clients & Industries Lead (Senior Manager) role. Acting as the primary interface with the business, the C&I Lead provides strategic direction and advice to the South-East Leadership Team and regional Partners, as well as leading a team of marketing and business development professionals.

The candidate will ensure successful delivery of the existing FY23 C&I plans based on the agreed firm-wide and regions priorities and then shape and be responsible for implementing the internal and external marketing and business development plan for FY24.

Your role

The Clients and Industries (C&I) Lead for the South-East is a trusted commercial leader and advisor, working closely with the Practice Senior Partners (PSPs) and their leadership teams to develop and execute the marketing and business development strategy for the region.

Responsibilities include:

Strategy

  • Develop and implement the region’s C&I strategy such that it positions Deloitte to be successful in its chosen markets
  • Have a clear point-of-view and understanding of the key strategic business issues in the region, providing expert advice and challenge where appropriate to Deloitte’s leaders and the wider team(s) in the South-East
  • Work with the wider regions’ C&I teams across the U.K., to identify and respond to opportunities on a pan-regional basis, sharing best practice and creating synergies in delivery and implementation.

Leadership

  • Lead by example, demonstrating a deep understanding of the South-East region(s), including competitor activity, growth areas and influencers
  • Directly line manage a Client Portfolio Manager, Assistant Marketing Manager and Senior Marketing Assistant, supporting their growth and personal development
  • Act as the primary interface with the business on C&I activity for the region, providing direction and advice to the respective Partners and stakeholders
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships across the South-East Senior Leadership Team and wider local partner and director group(s)
  • Be credible in the market, representing the regional practice with key external stakeholders.

Marketing

  • Develop, lead, and implement the marketing and communications strategy for Deloitte in the South-East, driving wider practice engagement and building brand eminence and profile in the external marketplace
  • Work closely with the C&I team to create and direct the tactical execution of external and internal deliverables, drawing on the whole of the marketing mix
  • On specific key priority campaigns or events, deliver these directly – with support from your or wider regional C&I team(s). We expect you to take a visible integral role on our two hubs, the Life Sciences Catalyst and the Tech Foundry
  • Own the regional marketing budget, ensuring excellent return on investment and driving better value for money. Provide timely reporting to key stakeholders, including evaluation of key marketing activities
  • Ensure linkage between the South-East and other parts of the business including the pan-regional C&I team, industries, service line and central teams – ensuring collaboration across the firm.

Portfolio

  • Work with the South-East leadership team and Client Portfolio Manager to shape and implement a portfolio approach to building relationships and driving sales across strategic accounts in the region
  • Responsible for overseeing the annual client planning process, driving best practice account management, and ensuring a focus on the firm’s key growth pillars
  • Tilt business development support to our most strategic accounts, bringing a multi-disciplinary lens to key opportunities, ensuring the optimal account team is in place and that C&I is supporting the Lead Client Service Partner to increase revenue
  • Be the ‘voice of the client’ within region, including developing relationships where appropriate with key stakeholders in the marketplace. Understand the firm’s strategic business issues, provide expert advice, influence, challenge and inspire senior partners.

Location: Cambridge or Reading with the option of working from home 2-3 days a week. Regular domestic travel across the practices in the South-East (see above) and other regional offices (occasional).

Your professional experience

Essential:

  • Experience in designing and overseeing the implementation of integrated marketing and business development plans, ideally within a financial or professional services environment
  • Experienced client-facing relationship builder and facilitator, with excellent senior stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent project management, written and verbal communication and collaboration skills
  • Proven track record of working in a complex, matrix, or multi-faceted environment
  • Self-starter able to use own initiative and take ownership whilst managing the demands of multiple stakeholders and decision makers
  • Inspiring people leader who ensures the personal development of team members

Desirable

  • Degree qualified or equivalent
  • Existing knowledge of the South-East market(s)
  • A deep understanding of Life Sciences, Healthcare or Tech industries

Personal independence
