Your role

As a Cloud Solutions Architect you will work across both pre-sales and technical tasks.

For pre-sales, you will:

  • Own or contribute to request for information (RFI), request for proposal (RFP) and business development for client projects for both medium and large clients across AWS, Azure or GCP;
  • Contribute to efforts from wider firm bid teams in creating public cloud designs and costs for inclusion in bid documentation.
  • Contribute to bid team presentations when requested;
  • Work with the cloud team on strategic deal opportunities;
  • Fully understand our managed services capability, the technologies and services involved, and be able to concisely communicate this both within the firm and to clients.

Technically, you will:

  • Be able to analyse and solve customer problems and identify new opportunities;
  • Develop a deep technical knowledge of Deloitte Cloud’s products, solutions and services to enable the production of high-quality Azure, AWS or GCP designs;
  • Act as an advocate of what we do in terms of our public cloud design, build and run services;
  • Build relationships to enable you to work closely with teams and clients to effectively understand and translate requirements into Azure, AWS or GCP designs;
  • Ensure your designs reflect best practices and to the highest standard;
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of Azure, AWS or GCP infrastructure designs you produce: from security by design to creating accompanying high-quality documentation;
  • Provide feedback /peer review on designs produced by colleagues in Deloitte Cloud and the wider firm;
  • Listen to feedback from client teams and constantly seek to improve the services we offer;
  • Actively seek out opportunities to automate manual functions and justify reasons to do so to team leaders / management;
  • Maintain knowledge of developments in Azure, AWS or GCP and seek out opportunities to apply new features and functionality to existing design patterns;
  • Maintain project progress and documentation using Jira/Confluence.

Location: You will be based at our London & UK Locations (Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham, New Castle, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Reading, Milton Keynes and St Albans)

Work pattern: This is a permanent contract opportunity. The role can be worked on a full-time basis. Our team members work a variety of agile working patterns. Tell us what arrangement works for you and we’ll try to accommodate.

Your professional experience

Essential:

  • Experience working in a technical pre-sales capacity, producing bid documentation, RFIs, RFPs and participating in technical bid presentation;
  • Technical experience working in IT with a strong understanding of IT infrastructure fundamentals; compute infrastructure, storage, networking and management thereof;
  • An understanding of cloud managed services and support processes, and a commitment to produce supportable designs and builds;
  • Solid understanding of Cloud technologies, including fundamental characteristics of cloud, cloud-native design fundamentals, best practices;
  • A strong understanding of security concerns around cloud and a willingness to develop public clous infrastructure solutions which are secure by design;
  • Strong OS knowledge including recent Windows and / or Linux experience;
  • Some scripting experience with any modern scripting language (Terraform, Ansible, Python, Powershell preferred) with a strong desire to develop further;
  • Understanding of using any of the above technologies to automate tasks allied to a strong desire to build on your existing skills;
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices & culture, CI/CD pipelines;
  • Willingness to travel occasionally;

Desirable:

  • AWS, Azure or GCP certifications;
  • Experience of development pipeline technologies such as Jenkins, Git, Github or any competitors thereof;
  • Experience of automating infrastructure deployment; using any of CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Salt, Chef or Puppet;
  • Particular Windows / Microsoft ecosystem experience; Azure, Powershell, experience using any of Microsoft’s OS deployment management toolset;
