Department of Education Vacancies – Speechwriter

Job Description:

To produce strong, accurate and engaging material for the ministerial team, including the Secretary of State, covering for the principal speechwriter during leave, and working with senior colleagues across the department.

Job Responsibilities:

• Show a keen awareness of the of the sensitive media, political and stakeholder environment we operate in.
• Ensure speeches reach a wider audience through the Department’s full range of digital channels.
• Produce clear, compelling and well-argued products and evaluate their impact on audiences.
• Be aware of media activity around speeches and identify and drive appropriate strategies to boost this when appropriate.
• Help to develop the Department’s evolving narrative and promoting this narrative across the Department.
• Be a full and active member of the wider Private Office and communications team, willing to share and impart your knowledge and skills.
