Job Description

This position will expose the Apprentice to the high-speed pace of hub operations and give them a chance to prove themselves as they are challenged to improve the Hub Operations. Through the program, the Apprentice will have the chance to explore different operations and operations support teams, while they complete their qualifications.

The Apprentice will report to the Innovation Manager, focusing on learning the value that the different teams are adding to the hub operations.

Heavy involvement with the night-to-night operations will be expected, as the Apprentice will have a direct impact on the most important Key Performance Indicators. The scheme will emphasize all the operational areas in the hubs, throughout all of the DPD hub sites.

Additionally, a notion of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing is highly recommended as they will ensure projects and tasks are delivered effectively. The Apprentice should be able to work and travel across multiple sites on Hinckley, Oldbury and Smethwick.

Please note we can only accept candidates who have the right to work in the UK, and you will work nights in parallel with the hub operations.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the improvement of the operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Manage and lead hub sections from all the different areas in the hub operations, while reaching all the necessary KPIs
• Resourcing additional staff at short notice in the event of any employee absence
• Coordinate and support the different Hub projects.
• Achieving the Hub objectives relating to Health & Safety and productivity to deliver outstanding service to our Depots and Customers
• Communicate project status to all participants

• Decisive and effective decision-making, problem resolution, and time management skills.
• Demonstrate high levels of resilience, self-motivation, and flexibility.
• Excellent computer skills with the ability to use Google chrome applications
