Our aim is to improve children’s lives through the provision of effective child maintenance arrangements. In Children and Families Digital, we help run and maintain digital products and services that improve the outcomes for children, by enabling parents to put in place and manage sustainable child maintenance arrangements in an efficient and convenient way.

You will be transforming how both our external and internal customers experience our digital services as a result of how you analyse and define problems and how you turn those concepts into actionable tasks and backlog items for sprint delivery.

You will work within a Common Platforms tribe with your key stakeholders being the Engineers, Architects and Product Owners who leverage our Platforms and Technical Products to build and run their applications.

Your focus will be on analysing the opportunities and helping to define the solutions to transform the Infrastructure, Platforms and DevOps capabilities the team provide.

Job Description

As a BA working within DWP Digital these are some of the things you will be doing:

You will be working within a transformational multi-disciplinary team (Product Managers, Architects and Software and Test Engineers etc.) utilising agile methodologies.

You will translate business problems and user needs into a set of detailed requirements to deliver value and great outcomes for our users.

You will lead workshops, interviews, focus groups and utilise other techniques to effectively understand the business problems and user needs.

You will develop and maintain stakeholder relationships. communicating effectively across both technical and business stakeholders and ensuring the understanding of requirements and acceptance criteria is aligned.

You will gain a good understanding of the business processes and activities that impact and that are impacted by the product or service. Selecting the appropriate best practice techniques to model business processes, in order to identify potential process improvements.

You will collaborate with the Product Manager to agree a suitable mix of epics, features & stories for each sprint, as well as contributing towards prioritisation activities.

You will take ownership for improving your own knowledge of Business Analysis and Agile principles, methods and tools and play an active role within the BA community including coaching and supporting other members, as appropriate.

This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work.

Salary Information

Salary for this role is from £38,469 (Band min) to £41,480 (Band max).

Where the maximum salary of £41,480 is offered, a Digital Allowance of up to £1,713 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

  • Experience of working as a Business Analyst in an agile team.
  • Experienced in analysing and refining user and stakeholder requirements and managing a product backlog.
  • Experienced in identifying and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experienced in using a wide range of analysis techniques to understand the problem.
  • Experience of working on changes end to end from inception to delivery.
  • Comfortable working within a technical area.
