Job Description:

Rosa is a shared IT platform that enables communication and collaborative working at SECRET across the majority of UK and devolved government departments and sensitive industry partners. The Rosa Service Organisation provides fixed and mobile SECRET products and services in 166 countries across the globe, allowing our users to create and share information securely. You will work within the Chief Technology Office alongside user researchers, architects, delivery managers, and engineers to define and drive our ground-breaking products and services.

Job Responsibilities:

  • You will support the development and application of technical architectural principles, standards, blueprints, roadmaps, designs and transitions states that underpin all IT delivery in the organisation.
  • Working to the Lead Solution Architect, you will assist in setting the strategic direction for technical architecture, including the development and implementation of frameworks that will assist in maintaining acceptable level of technical risk.
  • You will evolve and define technical design governance.
  • You will take responsibility for collaborating and supporting other staff in wider governance.
  • You will assure designs and products delivered by architects.
  • You will deliver technical architectures including translating user needs; completion of technical designs; identification of technology stack; submission to design authority; and development of architecture patterns and standards.

Job Requirements:

  • You will make decisions characterised by managed levels of risk and complexity, and will resolve technical disputes between wider peers and indirect stakeholders, taking into account all views and opinions.
  • You will act as a subject matter expert providing recommendations, guidance and advice on technical architecture, justifying and communicating your design decisions.
  • You will design systems characterised by medium (high?) levels of risk, impact, and business or technical complexity.
  • You will work across multiple products and services.
  • You can listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and interpret them. You are skilled at proactive and reactive communication.

Qualification & Experience:

  • You will manage, mentor, coach and develop staff; provide support to other architects; work cooperatively with colleagues and stakeholders to promote high-performance; and manage issues relating to the performance and conduct of officers in line with UK Civil Service values.
