About the job

More Information About The Role

The successful candidate will provide high level administrative support to the Chair and CEO of the FC.

We are looking for a proactive, organised PA who can manage a varied and sometimes busy workload and form an active part of the wider team. Due to the nature of the role discretion, diplomacy and tact are important, as are previous experience in a similar role and a good understanding of IT systems.

This role forms part of the Chair and CEO’s Executive Office which is led by the Chief of Staff and also includes an Administrative Assistant. We have a hybrid approach to working, with the expectation that the postholder will likely split their time between working at the Bristol Office and from home.

Background To The Forestry Commission (FC)

There are three main parts of the Forestry Commission (FC). All perform distinct but related functions and have their own governing boards and executive leadership teams, cojoined in a federal model at FC level. We are responsible for the management of publicly owned forests, and the regulation of both public and private forestry in England.

Forestry England manages England’s beautiful, diverse, and productive, publicly owned woods and forests. With over 250,000 hectares, Forestry England is also the largest single land manager in England. It is the largest provider of home-grown sustainably produced timber in England. Forest Research is Great Britain’s principal body for forestry and tree related research and is internationally renowned for the provision of evidence and scientific services in support of sustainable forestry. The Forestry Commission are the Government’s forestry and woodland experts, contributing to the 25 Year Environmental Plan. One of the objectives of the plan is to be the first generation to leave the environment in a better state than we found it, and we work towards this by encouraging landowners and the sector to protect, improve, expand and connect people with England’s woods and forests.
