Greggs are looking for a Payroll Administrator to support the delivery of an efficient payroll service to 24,000 colleagues that are paid weekly across our Retail and Supply Chain teams.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have previous Payroll experience and will have worked in a fast paced, high volume processing environment. Prior experience of SAP Payroll and CIPP Technician qualification are desirable. The Payroll team are based at our Head Office in Newcastle upon Tyne.

This is a permanent full time role working 35 hours per week, offering a competitive salary and benefits package.

Salary

Shift Pattern and Contracted Hours

35 hours a week, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

What you’ll do

The successful candidate will maintain effective procedures and processes to ensure accurate and timely delivery of Payroll to more than 24,000 colleagues that are paid weekly across our Retail and Supply Chain teams.

The key responsibilities and duties are:

  • End-to End payroll processing including review and validation prior to BACS submission
  • Lead on statutory payments and statutory deductions from pay
  • Ensure all internal and external payroll deadlines are met
  • Responsible for daily advance BACS / out-of-cycle payments
  • Audit/compliance checks on Payroll and controls
  • Reconciling HMRC reporting and third party payments
  • Oversee overpayment process to ensure costs are recovered in a timely manner and appropriate action taken to address root cause
  • Assist with overseeing the resolution of queries from employees relating to Payroll; recognising when to escalate and be the first point of contact for escalation from the team
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, delivering agreed improvement initiatives.
  • Provide high standard of customer service, consistency with internal standards and operational compliance

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Experience in operating within a Payroll team
  • Experience in a high volume transaction processing environment
  • SAP Payroll experience desirable
  • CIPP Technician qualification desirable
  • Technical knowledge in payroll reconciliation
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Excellent team player being mutually supportive
  • Good communication skills, with excellent customer service
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confident user of all Microsoft Office tools
