We are currently looking to recruit a Full Time Engineering Supervisor to manage the daily work of the Engineering team and to facilitate continuous improvement across the Engineering function in the areas of plant maintenance, HS&E, food safety and people management.

Salary

£39,753.89

Shift Pattern and Contracted Hours

The role is 45 Hours per week. you will work predominantly dayshift which will be Monday – Friday and must be flexible to work the occassional bank holiday and weekend.

Job Description

Supports Management of the Engineering Team –

Lead the day-to-day management of the Engineering team. Develop daily plan to support the reactive work by the Shift Engineering team to support the production lines. Communicate Plan in site manufacturing meetings and ensure delivery throughout the day. Lead the daily coaching & support for the Maintenance Engineers. Provide technical expertise when assisting with breakdowns and repairs.

Maintenance Strategy –

Assist the Maintenance Manager in implementing the maintenance strategy. Support development of predictive and planned Maintenance tasks across production lines and identify opportunities to develop system.

Department Development –

Assist the Engineering Manager in development of Engineering resource capability. Identify training needs and develop learning plans for shift engineers to support and increase base knowledge through out team across all key technologies.

  • Assist Maintenance Manager by ensuring daily and weekly work plans for the Bakery Maintenance

Engineers are delivered to the required standards.

Key Tasks –

  • Supports and feeds into PDR’s for Engineering Team.
  • Assist with coaching and mentoring/ development opportunities for the team as requested.
  • Supports management of any shortfalls in performance.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and encourages teams in line with Company Values.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members
  • Act as role model for colleagues
  • Delegate work to Bakery Maintenance Engineers as and when appropriate.
  • Provides regular updates on key issues to the Engineering Manager.
  • Encourages team to identify any areas for improvement.
  • Supports recruitment needs with Engineering Manager and People Department, participating in the recruitment process as requested.
  • Assist with the delivery of the departmental SOP’s, training and skills matrix.
  • Assist with development of maintenance PM SOPs and ensures PMs are carried out to the required standards across the maintenance team.
  • Ensures all maintenance activity are effectively logged in the maintenance systems. Open actions are followed up correctly and closed
  • Highlights any deviation of Engineering team from required working practices to the Engineering Manager to allow suitable follow-up

Key Measures –

  • Full record of PM work available in CMMS
  • Full record of defect and non-PM work available in CMMS
  • Issues highlighted to Engineering Manager as appropriate

Skills

Essential Skills and Experience –

Mechanical and Electrical skills

Verbal and Written Communication Skills

Good People Skills

Good Planning and Organising Skills

IT literate with proficient level of competence in key Microsoft packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

Experience with dealing and managing people.

10 years + experience in manufacturing engineering or similar

Competence in all tasks in a production factory and the ability to coach. Examples – Motors, Inverters, PLC’s installation, and replacements

Multi skilled – electrical bias engineer.

NVQ Level 3 and above

HNC

Desired Skills and Experience –

Experience with use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

Exposure to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) or Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM)

Exposure to the tools and techniques involved in Lean Manufacturing

HACCP or similar training/experience

Foundation Level Food Hygiene, or Level 3 Food Hygiene or above

PLC Qualifications

UK Driving License Required

Some UK or international travel may be required to visit suppliers, other sites and for meetings.
