You will be contracted to work 40 hours over 5 out of 7 days.

Your shifts will typically be dayshift, Monday-Friday, but flexibility is required to work occasional weekends and bank holidays.

Job Description

As Engineering Manager, you will develop and manage Engineering resources to ensure our assets best meet the needs of the business, including ensuring legal compliance of our facilities and assets. Facilitating continuous improvement across the Engineering function in the areas of plant & facilities maintenance, hygiene, safety, food safety and people management. This role is a key member of the Site Senior Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Engineering Aspects of Legal Compliance for Site Facilities & Assets, Safety-Health-Environment and Food Safety

Manages Site Engineering risks effectively and minimises environmental impact of operations

  • Manage the Engineering Team

Manages all areas of the site engineering team’s performance, including PDR’s, setting SMART objectives, regular 1:1’s, coaching and mentoring, managing underperformance and recruitment

  • Plan and direct Engineering delivery to support business, Logistics and Manufacturing plans

Develops & implements department plans to achieve business objectives, and has overall responsibility for the site Engineering budget and engineering people management

  • Deliver Excellence in Managing our Assets

Implements Supply Chain Maintenance Strategy, establishes asset performance standards, continuously monitors and improves the performance of assets, ensures assets are capable of producing quality products

  • Manage Capital Projects as Required by the Business

Plan, organise and deliver local projects to Group standards in line with Cost-Schedule-Performance requirements and in line with New Equipment Introduction process

  • Manage Effective use of Utilities

To monitor and promote minimal use of utilities and manage supply risks

Skills

  • Minimum 3 years engineering management experience in a food or FMCG business
  • HNC or higher in an engineering discipline
  • A track record of delivering performance improvement & cost reduction
  • An outstanding problem solver, capable of identifying and rectifying the root cause of the issue with a permanent solution.
  • Experience in delivering local capital projects.
  • Previous experience of PPM or similar preferable
  • Previous use of a CMMS desirable
  • Experience of leading and coaching Engineering Technicians.
  • Fully I.T. literate with Microsoft Packages – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Previous exposure to AutoCAD preferable
