For it to uphold this vision and to ensure the delivery and performance of the organisation meets ministerial and public expectations the Home Office is looking to appoint an exceptional candidate as Director General, Corporate & Delivery (DG, C&D). The post-holder will have an incredible opportunity to take on a significant leadership and transformation role both within the Corporate Enablers system and across the Home Office as it delivers on two key strategies: the One Home Office transformation and Civil Service 2025.

Able to operate in an ambiguous and complex environment, the DG, C&D will be an experienced leader comfortable working at pace, and through others, to deliver. A key part of this role will be working across multi-disciplinary teams, bringing together different professions to support and shape strategy across Government. Critical to success will be the ability to lead the effective and efficient delivery of frontline operations and policy functions.

Accountable directly to the Permanent Secretary, the DG, C&D will lead a diverse group of 5,500 staff across a wide ranging portfolio of corporate functions: Finance, DDaT, Commercial, Estates, Security and Information. The DG, C&D will also play a key part in the Government Finance Function (GFF), a diverse community of over 10,000 finance professionals, working with a team of DGs to set the agenda and direction of the GFF, alongside their leadership role in the Home Office.

The post-holder will bring deep financial and commercial acumen gained through experience of successfully managing multi-billion pound budgets at an operational level. They will be adept at delivering cost efficiencies and cost reduction programmes. A visible and engaging leader, they will have delivered transformational organisational and cultural change, ideally in a corporate services environment. They will have a proven ability to build and develop diverse and geographically dispersed teams and be comfortable leading large scale digital change programmes.

Qualified with CCAB, CIMA or equivalent with a track record working in complex, customer focussed organisations and a track record in using financial information to help shape and influence organisational strategy. Candidates will have the personal resilience to adapt and operate in an ambiguous, fast-changing and complex environment which is subject to regular scrutiny by the media, public and others.
