Overview

We are looking for a Lead Product Analyst to join our team at Gumtree. The Lead Product Analyst will work with the product teams responsible for improving the Gumtree product offering and user experience. This role is critical in driving data-led decision-making and product development through experimentation, identifying opportunities and influencing the product strategy. You will have a strong analytical background and customer-oriented approach, thrive on solving highly analytical problems and turn data into actionable insights. You will serve as an influential thought leader for product leadership and be an ambassador for the product analytics community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to improve the product offering and user experience through proactive insights, influencing the product roadmap and testing plan.

  • Develop hypotheses, set up experiments and analyse results to generate insights and provide recommendations.

  • Provide thought leadership on product strategy and influence business direction.

  • Work with product managers to determine success metrics, monitor product health and progress towards OKRs, demonstrating business impact of the product team.

  • Collaborate with UX researchers to synthesise qualitative and quantitative insights.

  • Identify opportunities for and drive ongoing improvement to our analytics experimentation processes and tooling to ensure these follow best practices and meet business needs.

  • Foster data-driven culture across product and wider business through actively democratising insights and building stakeholder networks.

  • Support the Product Analytics community through coaching, collaboration and knowledge sharing. Work with analysts and product leadership to improve our capabilities, whether through tooling, ways of working or upskilling.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree

Preferred skills and experience

  • Strong background in quantitative thinking, data analysis and statistics is essential.

  • Proven track record of creating actionable insight and recommendations which have driven business impact.

  • Web/app analytics experience in a product development environment.

  • Proficient knowledge of SQL (we use Spark but any dialect will do) and Excel are essential. Proficiency in Python and/or R is a distinct advantage.

  • Experience working with web analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, etc).

  • Experience with A/B test design and analysis (in any domain) is essential.

  • Self-motivated and results driven, with an ability to challenge the status quo and a ‘can-do’ attitude.

  • Curious and passionate about learning and building great products to help us and our partners grow.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills to influence across multiple teams.

  • You have an open and honest communication style.

  • You speak fluent English and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • You have a sense of fun and a positive demeanour to enthuse and engage people.

  • You are comfortable in agile, cross-functional teams and are familiar with JIRA/Confluence or similar tools.
