About the Role:

We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer to join our international team of engineers at Gumtree. We’re working remotely for the foreseeable future, but our Gumtree and Motors offices are in Richmond and Abingdon respectively. With 39 other engineers you’ll be supporting various frontend initiatives and delivering value to millions of customers.

As one of seven frontend engineers you’ll be working with fun and diverse colleagues in a rewarding cultural environment. You’ll be relied on to develop and deliver high-quality features, improvements and changes to the JavaScript/TypeScript layers from the NodeJS middle-ware to the universal ReactJS application layer.

Our team setup consists of Agile cross-functional squads directly focussed on business targets and a platform team focussed on tech-strategy.

We’re looking for

• Experienced in developing features and changes across ReactJS and NodeJS using JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience in developing tests with Cypress is considered a big plus.
• Experience in development of A/B tests is a plus.
• You have a DevOps mindset (You’ll get to own the software development lifecycle by doing a.o your own: development, unit testing, e2e testing, releasing, aftercare and incident management).
• You have experience working on mixed frontends with legacy and modern areas.
• You have experience with the usual JS tools/packages such as WebPack, Babel, Jest/Enzyme, etc.
• You do your best to deliver high performing, clean code, modular and scalable.
• You help your colleagues when you can, sharing knowledge and experience.
• You have experience maintaining coding standards and following technical guidance when building your features.
• You’re comfortable providing and receiving constructive criticism, particularly while participating in code reviews
• You’ve worked in Agile teams and delivered software using Agile
