Single Customer Account Programme

Do you want to be part of HMRC’s flagship multimillion pound Single Customer Account programme? Our aim is to provide customers with a single account so they can carry out their tax obligations simply. The Single Customer Account, powered by data received by HMRC from a range of third parties as well as from the taxpayer, represents an exciting opportunity to simplify things for taxpayers, increase trust in HMRC and enable easier and better tax compliance.

The Role

You’ll be an excellent product owner who has worked in large complex organisations with experience of large-scale agile frameworks. You’ll be a fantastic communicator, who is comfortable dealing with senior stakeholders and multiple teams across the business. You’ll have a great understanding of technology and how this can be utilised by organisations. Translating complex information to the business and supporting our development teams will be second nature to you so too will having the passion to build excellent products.

Your Accountabilities

·Set and continuously communicate the overall vision to provide direction and inform the squad’s work

·Accountable for the outcome of the squad’s work and ensuring it meet’s customer requirements

·Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the programme to manage expectations and prioritise the squad’s backlog

·Drive development, prioritisation and maintenance of the product backlog, product roadmap and writing user stories to solve customer problems

·Work closely with other product owners and SMEs to resolve dependencies and maintain alignment

·Represent the voice of the customer, regularly seeking feedback from users and using it coupled with other means of data to iterate rapidly

·Drive key ceremonies such as sprint planning, refinement and Sprint Reviews to reaffirm priorities and clarify work.

·Responsible for unlocking and delivering benefits and efficiencies in the squad

·Be a servant leader, promoting a culture of empowerment, collaboration and psychological safety

·Help define and measure product OKRs to be able to make informed decisions for the product’s future

·Support a continuous learning culture by helping build a strong product management function and mentoring and coaching fellow product owners and squad members

Skills & Experience Required

·Must have 5+ years’ extensive experience working as a Senior Product Owner in delivering products/solutions and outcomes in complex organisations that can be fully articulated at interview

·Proven track record of delivering results and impact through iterative product development

·Experience working in scrum and scaled agile frameworks

·Extensive senior experience working with senior stakeholders – managing expectations and influencing stakeholders of competing priorities.

·Strong communication skills and working with multi-disciplinary teams within a fast-paced environment

·Experience working with Web Application Architecture strongly desired

·Business architecture and technology expertise – defined by project scope but enabler to make quick decisions on priorities and trade-offs

·Transformation & Change delivery experience – identify business outcomes, manage dependencies and deliver change in complex environments

·Data Analytics – interpret qualitative data and respond appropriately to be able to iterate and test rapidly.

·Empathy for customer – be the voice of the customer, work with user researchers and designers to understand feedback and problems and test potential solutions

·Product Owner Certification (MTP/General Assembly/PSPO/CSPO) desired but not essential
