Job Description:
The Lord Speaker, Lord McFall of Alcluith, oversees proceedings in the Lords chamber and chairs the House of Lords Commission. The Lord Speaker also acts as an ambassador for the Lords both at home and abroad, explaining and promoting the work of the House of Lords and its vital contribution to the UK’s parliamentary system.
Job Requirements:
- Effective working relationships – the ability to develop and maintain close and effective working relationships, including with colleagues across Parliament, and with Members.
- Communications skills – effective oral communication skills, including the ability to deliver firm advice where required, and excellent drafting skills.
- Professionalism and judgement – good general political awareness and sound judgemen
Qualification & Experience:
- Delivering quality work at pace – a high degree of initiative and organisational skills with the ability to co-ordinate a wide range of work, to deliver results at pace, and to progress the Lord Speaker’s priorities.
