We are currently seeking a Vice President to join the EMEA Sustainable Loans team, Real Assets Finance (RAF), in London.

Principal Responsibilities Of The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the Green Loan, Sustainability Linked Loan and Social Loan product suite across EMEA:

  • You will support on the continued role out of the systematic client engagement plan across EMEA and liaise closely with the GB GRB community.
  • Originating, structuring and executing sustainable loan transactions with the EMEA client base.
  • You will help the team to maintain full visibility of industry standards and the latest market development.
  • You will be expected to work closely with the rest of RAF Transition Taskforce to help the monetisation of the energy transition, support the ‘greening’ of HSBC’s balance sheet and assist the bank to achieve its Financed Emissions reduction targets.
  • Manage junior resource in the execution of transactions.

Key aspects of the role will include:

  • Supporting systematic client engagement across EMEA by all RMs to ensure the team can deliver on the Bank’s USD1 trillion climate ambition, and financed emissions from our portfolio net zero by 2025 if not sooner.
  • Further enhancing the existing platform by expanding and engaging with the network of ESG champions in the GRB community across EMEA.
  • Maintaining our leadership in ESG, and providing bespoke sustainable financing solutions to support our clients’ transition to low carbon.
  • Building up a client network in the sustainability space and ensuring regular dialogue on the topic of sustainability.
  • Leading the execution of transactions throughout all phases from the mandate, structuring, documentation to the deal closing.
  • Ensuring marketing materials are fully aligned with industry guidelines and development at all times.
  • Supporting continuous development of expertise within RAF with sector focus.
  • You will be expected to lead sector deep dive exercises throughout the year.
  • Keeping up to date of industry developments such as transition finance handbook, EU taxonomy, LMA principles and guidelines etc. and ensuring all internal stakeholders are kept up to date.
  • Taking an active role in the submission of transactions to the GB EMEA Sustainable Lending Committee (SLC).
  • Providing support to the pilot initiative to embed net zero aligned finance at EMEA SLC and help in the formulation of the bank’s wider policy framework.
  • Supporting the management team to ensure all audit issues are appropriately dealt with within the required time frames
  • Further enhancing post-deal monitoring process for all GB transactions across EMEA.
  • Growing your own capabilities by pursuing and investing in personal development opportunities and develops the capabilities by working within existing infrastructure within RAF and wider teams.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of sustainable finance and proven experience of working on sustainable financing transactions
  • Strong interest in sustainability widely and ideally specialising in some transition sectors
  • Strong client skills and the ability to engage closely with clients to assess their needs and make informed recommendations on sustainability requirements
  • Ability to solve problems and think laterally and strategically around challenging situations and evolving market conditions.
  • Strong finance / credit analytical skills.
  • Strong culture carrier, promoting collaboration and team work.
