Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

Markets & Securities Services Technology, a global function of 6500+ Tech professionals work in partnership with the business who rely on us for delivering innovative, robust, stable platforms to enable their investment and financial solutions for clients. These include both vendor-based products and a number of award winning in-house primary trading systems. We have a long-term vision for MSS Tech – a future state of architecture that is strategic and disciplined, that enables future updates and costs less.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of a Domain Architect.

Role Description

This role will sit within Equities and Securities Financing (ESF) Technology, which is a global department within MSS Technology and has teams in New York, Toronto, London, Paris, Poland, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Pune – supporting businesses covering Cash Equities, Electronic Trading, Delta One and Flow Trading, Equity Derivatives, Prime Finance, Futures and Derivatives Clearing Services. The organization is rapidly transforming both its people structure and ways of working to better align with our business and increase the speed and quality of delivery. We are adopting a DevOps model driving agile delivery and building a strong product ownership group

Responsibilities

The Technology Domain Architect is responsible for defining, maintaining and owning the enterprise architecture for Equities and Securities Financing, ensuring compliance with group standards and policies, and leading the respective discipline within the Enterprise Architecture & Design Practice; including ensuring that the target architecture (as defined with the Technology TOM) is implemented consistently across the CIO function and respective DevOps teams.

This Domain Architect will carry out some, or all of the following activities:

  • Lead and own the development and implementation of architecture strategy and standards pertinent to the domain
  • Introduce new practices, processes, operating model, techniques, products, services, technologies and standards where needed against identified use cases, via the appropriate governance bodies
  • Act as the recognised technical expert associated with the relevant domain/systems
  • Accountable design authority for technology decisions and leadership of the appropriate governance bodies
  • Stay abreast of technology trends and advise Technology and the business about potential benefits/impacts
  • A system engineering background and the ability to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement.
  • Provide technical thought leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption.
  • Have conceptual functional and non-functional knowledge of some of the following areas:

  • Have conceptual functional and non-functional knowledge of some of the following areas:-
    • Data centre hardware infrastructure (servers, networking, storage)
    • Security technologies such as firewalls, HSMs, proxy servers, IDS/IPS, network segmentation tools
    • Identity Access Management (e.g. Active Directory, LDAP, Privileged Access Management tools)
    • Cloud technologies such as Google GCP, Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure, including containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • API led Microservice architecture
    • Site Reliabillity Engineering
    • Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub, Nexus)
    • Automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Terraform
    • Middleware technologies such as Websphere, Tomcat, Java, Messaging, Application Server or Web server
    • Networking (e.g. Cisco/F5 devices, TCP/UDP, Broadcast/Multicast, LAN/WAN, SDN)
    • High availability and BCDR techniques such as clustering (VCS & MSCS), data replication etc
    • Collaboration tools (e.g. MS Teams, Confluence, Jira)
    • DevSecOps practices
  • A track record of delivering significant change which improves business effectiveness in sustainable ways
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills with experience of successfully influencing senior stakeholders, negotiating effectively and winning over audiences with compelling and persuasive presentations

The role is based in London, but some travel may be required.
