Job Title: Full Stack Engineer

Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.

Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

Role Description:

The purpose of the full stack engineer is to help enable transformational change to help accelerate the execution of the bank’s customer outcomes, by delivering data technologies and platforms that are fit for the future.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Team Lead/ Business Analyst, assisting with the requirements gathering process
  • Perform the technical analysis and documentation for changes and new requirements
  • When necessary, operate in different time-zones (UK, HK, India, US and China) to work seamlessly with colleagues in other IT teams for the successful delivery of project
  • Develop / integrate code
  • Build the required SIT/ UAT environments
  • Unit and System integration testing
  • Support user acceptance testing
  • Preparation & support for live implementations
  • Liaison with IT Infrastructure and other IT application teams as required
  • Maintain system, operational, helpdesk documentation: Support procedures, development specifications, User FAQ’s
  • Conform to the defined Development standards, Legal, Compliance and SOX controls
  • Production Implementation and Post-Implementation Support
  • Production Support

Requirements

Essential Skillset/Experience:

  • Proficient in Shell scripting.
  • Good Technical Design, Problem Solving and debugging skills
  • Experience in working on Angular/React framework for UI development.
  • Good understanding of RDBMS and SQLs and has worked with Postgres/Oracle Databases
  • Understanding of how to use Github, Jenkins, Ansible etc. Understanding of CI/CD concept.
  • Good communication skills and should be able to take ownership and responsibility to work as individual contributor.
  • Familiar with Test automation tools JUnit, Selenium, Cucumber
  • Hands on development solutions using industry leading Cloud technologies
  • Experience in Big Data, ETL, Design, Development, Data ingestion, Data on Cloud
  • Technical Skills: Big Data, Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Web Services, Micro Services
  • Agile proficient and knowledgeable/experience in other agile methodologies. Ideally certified.
  • Strong communication & networking skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and take accountability to execute and deliver on goals; strong commitment to high quality standards.
  • Experience working with Hadoop technologies.
  • Experience with Kafka, Spark and PySpark, Spark, Kafka, Nifi

The role will be based in Leeds with a requirement to go into the office 2/3 days a week.
