This role is in Wealth and Personal Banking

Our Wealth and Personal Banking business supports millions of individuals, families, business owners, investors and entrepreneurs worldwide. We provide products and services that include current accounts, credit cards, personal loans and mortgages, as well as savings, investments, insurance and wealth management. We also have specialised relationship managers who support customers with bespoke requirements, including high net worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.

Retail Banking exists to:

The Secured Lending team is part Banking & Propositions, and has responsibility for the mortgage portfolios of HSBC and First Direct representing over £100bn in balances across the ring-fenced and non-ring-fenced bank, and which generates a significant part of UK RBWM profit. The team drives all product development, pricing, retention, communication, product management and maintains compliance with relevant regulatory and internal policy mandates across the UK bank.

The purpose of the role is to create, lead and deliver Change to achieve Annual Operating Plan, build beautiful digital customer and broker journey’s, and protect the business by adhering to regulatory and reputational responsibilities. Against a backdrop of delivering consistently good outcomes for customers whilst maximising commercial opportunities and minimising risk for the bank. The role will work closely with UKT, HOST, UWS, Distribution, Credit Risk, Mortgage Operations, Legal and Compliance teams to drive change and support run the bank activities, in addition to third party partners.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business, the role holder is required to role model customer-centricity, driving service excellence and offering products and services that meet customer needs. This position may also bring the opportunity to support the green/sustainable Mortgage Proposition within the team and experience, knowledge and interest in this area would be beneficial.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Awareness of competitor propositions and journeys with a view to ensuring ours remain consistently competitive and meet customer needs.
  • Support a range of analytical projects for the team, shaping the delivery to support business growth objectives with a focus on delivering high quality decisions for our customers driven by data
  • Be accountable for the integrity and accuracy of delivered results;
  • Set our control framework, run the mortgage product portfolios against agreed performance indicators and effectively communicate management information to stakeholders
  • Complete projects on-time whilst handling and challenging requests for unplanned or ad-hoc work
  • Clearly communicate proposals to gain consensus to strategy changes from partners across the organisation
  • Positively support the vision and strategy of the department, working with the Senior Leadership Team to engage and empower team members.
  • Maintain compliance with regulation
  • Challenge established policy and procedures, where appropriate and suggest alternatives
  • Serve key stakeholders by providing strategic direction and thought leadership to support them in driving revenue performance, encouraging collaboration, accountability and ownership.
  • Balance growth priorities with the risk agenda, to ensure that we grow our business in a sustainable way.
  • Liaise where appropriate with a wide array of internal customers, including (but not exclusively), Propositions, Marketing, Risk, Finance, UKT, HOST, Analytics, Operations.
  • Conducting ourselves with professionalism and with HSBC’s core values of Open, Dependable, and Connected at the heart of our interactions with stakeholders at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider Mortgage Product team to ensure the best outcomes for our customers and the business.

Requirements

  • Analytical capabilities using one or more relevant software packages to analyse data is desired, e.g. SAS, Python, SQL and/or VBA;
  • Experience of successful project management working across teams to deliver complex analytical projects is essential;
  • Previous experience in a relevant role, i.e. Analytics or an Analysis based role is essential
  • You enjoy working collaboratively within a team and can build positive relationships to achieve shared goals
  • You are a clear communicator and are able to confidently communicate complex information to a diverse audience across the business, with an ability to influence at all levels
  • You are highly motivated and focussed on making a positive impact on our customers and HSBC
  • Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of mortgages is desired.
  • Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. Occasional travel to stakeholder sites – London / Leeds / Sheffield etc.
