Hywel Dda are recruiting for two permanent roles who will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions to aid clinical and administrative functions of the organisation.

Over the last two years we have migrated to Office 365 and have an ambition to enable the digital transformation of the organisation through the use of Microsoft’s Power Platform.

These Solutions Will Be Developed In The Following Areas

  • SharePoint Online
  • Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, PowerBi)
  • Adhoc development of web and Apple / Android mobile apps
  • Support integration developments

The post holder will have a critical role in taking requirements from users, mapping these into developed software and assisting with the wider Digital team in deploying these successfully into operation.

As the role will cover multiple Health Board sites, the ability to travel between sites in a timely manner is essential.

The Main Duties Of The Role Are

  • Provide a complete end to end service for development of clinical and administrative software solutions.
  • Establish clear requirements through to development, testing, implementation and maintenance.
  • Responsible for complex query writing to support operational report requests and develop further adhoc reporting tools to facilitate access to data.
  • Research relevant new technology as it is released, assessing its potential for enhancement of existing services.
  • Delivers training in developed software solutions to end users across the Health Board.
  • Develop suitable test plans and supporting test data to prove the correct operation of code.
  • Prepare well written technical documentation to ensure software applications are well understood and maintainable.
  • Speak confidently to groups / meetings within the Health Board demonstrating ideas, concepts and developed software.
  • Works closely with Health Board employees daily to understand system specifications and requirements.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
  • Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
  • 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
  • Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services.
