Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the delivery of all aspects of NGA power work (FTTP, FTTC, FTTPIC, SHE, MDU) as agreed with and directed by the chief engineer’s technical senior management team.
  • Work closely with the other lines of business to improve customer and end-user satisfaction levels.
  • Responsible for submitting accurate daily whereabouts reports and overtime returns.
  • Flexible to work away from home nationally which will require early starts and late finishes.
  • You will be required to be flexible and to undertake ad-hoc tasks for the wider team requiring power skills & knowledge.
  • Ensure that you keep up to date with mandatory training obligations and you will maintain your vehicle log.
  • Ensure that tools or equipment (including vehicles and testers ) supplied to undertake the power role are maintained ,calibrated and kept safe and secure.
  • Comply with any legislative requirements in relation to the role.
  • Street works.
  • The job holder will be aware of the Street works legislation (New Roads and Street works Act 1991) related to their work.
  • Enabling power installation work for FTTP SHE includes AC and DC systems.
  • Make sure that DSLAMs are routine and certificated in accordance with current requirements as defined and documented by ISIS documentation ,Chief engineer’s office and that all Certificates and power documentation is accurate and uploaded in a timely manner.
  • They will understand it sufficiently to be able to comply with it, working safely, ensuring the safety of the public, avoiding prosecutions and penalties, and relying on their own knowledge or on their ability to recognise when they will need specialist support.
  • Deliver Power projects and work packages.
  • Ensure all work is carried out with compliance to BT safety requirements.
  • Work within the expectations of the Chief engineer’s office.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Basic understanding on the different types of networks located with BT exchanges (PSTN, System X&Y, AXD10 etc).
  • Proficient in the use of MS-Excel, MS-Word & MS-PowerPoint to create high quality written documentation for customer, supplier and internal use.
  • Working on basic fibre circuits.
  • Knowledge of LLU product types and relevant sources of information.
  • Demonstrable operational experience of BT telephone exchange infrastructure in a planning, build and operations environment.
  • Ability to use all relevant support systems such as LLUMS, PIMMS, Advitium, SNAPe.
