Job Description:

The role of a London Underground engineering apprentice is critical to ensuring the ongoing performance and safety of our tube network. The technological advancements we are seeing in our trains and operating infrastructure mean that we need to adapt the way we maintain our assets to keep them operating at peak performance. You’ll be at the forefront of these developments whilst also keeping a watchful eye on our legacy assets across the network.

Job Responsibilities:

  • At the end of the apprenticeship, you will be at an Engineering Technician professional standard while there is no requirement this can be built upon to achieve Chartership status in the future.
  • You’ll also have opportunities to complete additional training courses. These will vary from soft skills training to technical skills training.
  • Upon successful completion of this scheme, you could roll-off into a Train maintainer positionwhich could lead to further career development opportunities such asAdvanced Train Maintainer or Team leader positions.

Job Requirements:

  • The apprenticeship scheme will involve working flexible hours to include early, late, night and weekend shifts.
  • Placements are all around London and can last for as long as 4 months

  • Willingness to learn

Qualification & Experience:

  • You should already hold or be working towards a minimum of 5 GCSE’s A*-C/ grade 4 or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English language.
  • You are not eligible for this scheme if you currently hold or are working towards a qualification at the same or higher level in a related subject or have already studied content from the qualification for this scheme.
