The Legal Entity Controllers within IBF&BM have primary responsibility for financial reporting and ensuring financial integrity within all Corporate & Investment Bank UK based legal entities, as well as ensuring a strong control environment exists as it relates to all businesses, products and operational areas that impact the UK financial accounts.

The team are responsible for ensuring that all legal entity implications are considered for all transactions that flow through the entities. Individual members of the team are required to have a firm understanding of the products and business that use the entities. The team collaborate extensively with the Product and Business Controllers who have primary responsibility for the business activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of statutory financial statements for a key UK regulated entity.
  • Produce key disclosures contained within the UK statutory financial statements under local GAAP, working closely with the Lines of Business and external audit.
  • Responsibility for the working files and supporting audit papers to a high degree of accuracy and liaison with external auditors on an annual basis.
  • Maintaining and reconciling our local ledger platform and operating model.
  • Supporting technical UK GAAP/IFRS accounting analysis including accounting memos and new product assessments.
  • Management of audit tasks and updates to local stakeholders
  • Identify and drive enhancements to current processes and controls.
  • Building and managing relationships across Finance to ensure effective coordination and communication of audit requests and information required for the accounts.
  • Supporting external audit throughout the year on interim testing working closely with Finance, Lines of Business, and other support functions across the Firm.
  • Provide detailed monthly/quarterly analysis of the legal entity results to the external auditors to assist with audit scope and changes within the entity.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified accountant with PQE experience
  • Previous experience of accounts preparation under IFRS preferred.
  • Preferably some experience of working in a monthly reporting cycle on either balance sheet or P&L
  • Ability to work under considerable time pressure, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Sound knowledge of PC based software packages, especially high level of proficiency in MS Excel e.g. pivot tables
  • Strong analytical ability, being able to discuss results with product controllers and senior management.
