As a seasoned Telecom Circuit Engineer, you’ll be making decisions of a global and strategic nature that impact our customers, clients, and businesses around the globe. Your expertise in analyzing complex data systems, anticipating problems, and finding ways to mitigate risk, will be key in providing thought leadership on a high performing team to successfully design and navigate the JP Morgan Chase Telecom Network program roadmap. By incorporating your knowledge of business drivers, you will affect change and lead development of innovative improvements and world-class practices. In this role you will drive the design, construction, and support of one of the largest enterprise networks in the world. Your focus on automation to support the provisioning and life cycle management of the Telecom network will position JP Morgan Network Product Line as a technology leader.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end design and implementation of telecom connectivity solutions
  • Collaborate with internal teams to thoroughly understand their network connectivity and bandwidth requirements
  • Request quotes and fiber optic maps from the Telecom vendors for review and selection
  • Create and present high-level design and recommendation documents
  • Manage our Telecom partners to deliver the necessary capacity on-time and on-budget
  • Develop, establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with telecom technicians that are in the field to extend, test, and turn up carrier circuits
  • Engage and manage relationships with our Telecom vendors to design diverse, resilient, and optimal telecom circuits ranging from 1M to 100G
  • Develop, establish and maintain positive working relationships with vendors
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment and drive telecom solutions to completion
  • Contribute to an environment of individual empowerment while embracing a strong sense of team
  • Develop, establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienc e
  • 5+ years’ experience with Telecommunications with extensive knowledge specializing in Layer 1 transport
  • Knowledge of European, African, and Middle Eastern telecommunication providers, including both terrestrial and subsea
  • Broad understanding of optical theory and Layer 1 and 2 technologies, including WDM, OTN, MPLS-TP and ERP
  • Experience in a planning and decision-making environment
  • Strong ability to articulate rationale behind decisions in both written and verbal form
  • Experience in planning and implementing transport solutions specific to cloud connectivity
  • Deep knowledge of network and data centre technologies including design and construction principles
  • Capability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Self-motivated, willing to take initiative and do what needs to be done
  • Creativity and resourcefulness to resolve issues efficiently
  • Adept at partnering closely with, and acting as a trusted advisor to, stakeholders across the firm in order to influence strategic priorities
  • Proficient in Excel, Power Point, Visio, and Telecom Expense Management and Inventory tools (TEM). Proficiency in one or more programing languages is a plus (JSON, Python).
  • Experience with IP networks, Network Function Virtualization and/or Software Defined Networking (SDN)
  • Experience with automation of life cycle management of network elements or virtualized network functions.
