Department Description

JPMorgan Network Management (NM) is responsible for the selection and management of the Sub Custodian and Financial Markets Institution (FMI) network. The group is responsible for the engagement, oversight and disengagement of this network who are providing securities services (custody and clearing) and cash services (payments and other foreign currency services) to JPMorgan from a firm-wide perspective. The network spans ~500 financial institutions across 100+ markets. NM work closely with these institutions and associated regulatory authorities in each country according to the local market practices and regulatory rules associated with foreign investment.

NM supports the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB), as well as other areas of the firm as needed, including Corporate Treasury, Asset Management and Corporate Human Resources. The group has a global focus in order to leverage buying power worldwide, developing outsourcing initiatives, and management of the associated risks.

NM’s Agent Transitions (AT) team has specific responsibility for managing the suite of change projects impacting the network including, but not limited to; transitions, restructures, legal entity and market restructures, request for proposals (RFPs), network optimization and expansion activity.

Role Description

The successful applicant will assume responsibility for project managing various strategic and significant change initiatives with a focus on cash. These initiatives are of varying size and complexity related to the network of agents and FMIs. Events require management throughout the lifecycle of the project from evaluation through planning to execution. Responsibilities include;

  • Building relationships within NM, cross LoB internal depart ments and with the external FMIs and sub-custodians
  • Understanding and engaging operations on product, legal entity, market and regulatory driven changes
  • O perational due diligence of agent banks
  • Service level assessment and negotiation
  • Co-ordination of cross line of business operations teams globally to effect changes and ensuring operational readiness for change events
  • Co-ordination of line of business owned activities including SWIFT testing, account opening, change approvals and client communications
  • Highlighting and escalating key issues

Key Skills And Qualifications Required

  • Strong project management skills
  • Strategic and operational insight into the challenges and priorities faced by the firm; commercial, regulatory, risk, competitive
  • Understanding of the firm’s legal entity structure and how to effect change related to it
  • Experience of executing major, multi-disciplinary and multi-national transformation projects
  • Knowledge of how to overcome obstacles; negotiate win-win solutions between external and internal clients; and manage relationships and expectations (both ways)
  • Proven self-starter, able to prioritize their own and other people’s input
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others to change behavior
  • Excellent report writer and summarizer of complex issues / solutions
  • Analytical and internal process control mindset
  • Understanding of the FCA CASS UK client money rules
  • Familiarity with CIB cash and securities business environment
  • Ability to complete work to deadlines with a sense of both urgency and accuracy thorough effective time management including goal setting, planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and monitoring
  • Authority and confidence to speak with convic tion about agent change agenda to a senior audience
  • Knowledge of firm’s Cash & Securities products and familiarity with Payments and Cash Management, as well as Securities Services, Markets, and Prime Finance, including operations knowledge and experience
  • Ability to forge strong working relationships
  • Effective time management skills including goal setting, planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and monitoring
