An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Executive Support team for a Secretary on 37 hours a week. Whilst the position is generic, meaning the successful candidate would have the potential to support any of the Directors or elected members, the initial position is as Secretary to the Service Director for Communities and Access Services. This is a really exciting area to support, with services including Libraries and Customer Service Centres, Early Intervention and Prevention, Domestic Abuse, Safer Kirklees and Migration and Resettlement.

The successful candidate will be highly organised with an understanding of project management principles in order to support the Service Director with their varied workload. Diary and email management will be a key responsibility and a proactive approach will be important, especially when balancing urgent matters with day-to-day work. Experience of prioritising tasks and managing a varied workload is essential. Attention to detail will be required, especially when attending meetings to take notes and actions. Given the confidential and politically sensitive nature of the Service Director’s portfolio, sensitivity and confidentiality will be expected at all times.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about an interesting range of council services, build relationships with officers and partners and support project work. This would be a great opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of a wide range of council services.
