We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead our green infrastructure projects in London as part of the National Trust’s Urban Places programme.

2nd interview (in London) – 16 November 2023

This is a fixed term contract until December 2025

What it’s like to work here

The London Programme is part of our national Urban Places ambition to play a bigger role in cities. We aim to work with others to address unequal access to nature, beauty and history, and to put Inclusion and diverse representation at the heart of our programme.

Collaborating with people across the capital you’ll help find ways to improve quality of and access to green space in the city, mobilising National Trust’s operational teams and consultants to support your work.

We’re supportive of hybrid working. You’ll have a base in our London office, Grosvenor Gardens (Victoria) and get to spend time at some of our beautiful places. There’s flexibility around your hours of work and opportunities for professional development.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing and leading our green infrastructure projects, working with a range of partners, organisations and residents in London to deliver demonstrable impact for people and place, including ongoing work in Lewisham (see additional information).
  • Helping build on, scale-up and replicate good practice and learning from work to date; including maximising the legacy of Camden and Islington’s successful Future Parks Accelerator
  • Engaging in strategic conversations around green space development in London and helping translate these into action.
  • Establishing sustainable funding and financing models for green space initiatives.
  • Helping capture lessons learnt from our work and playing a vital role in evaluating impact.
  • Advocating for green infrastructure development internally and externally.
  • Engaging with local communities as well as communicating what’s happening to a wider stakeholder audience.

Who we’re looking for

  • Proven track record in developing and leading green infrastructure and/or nature-based initiatives in urban environments working with communities, partners and contractors.
  • Experience of successfully delivering complex end to end project/programme management, including defining resources, leading procurement, securing project teams and matrix management across multiple projects/programmes.
  • A recognised project (APM PMQ/Prince) or programme management (MSP) qualification.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD in your career to date.
  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills, able to confidently work with senior leaders.
  • Experience of managing complex and difficult external stakeholder relationships.

Diversifying our audiences and workforce is really important to us and we value lived experience and character. If you’re excited about this role but you don’t meet every requirement in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway if you have other experience and skills which are transferrable. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
