About the job

Summary

Europe’s biggest conservation charity is looking for a new Senior Internal Communications Manager.

You’ll be a leader in our high-performing communications team and professional network. You’ll set direction and lead first-class delivery for internal communications on important elements of our ambitious strategy – including nature restoration and climate action.

As a seasoned internal communications leader, strategist and practitioner, you’ll know how to cut through noise, help our organisation deliver on what matters, and inspire staff and volunteers to use their voice as advocates for our cause of nature, beauty and history for everyone, for ever.

What it’s like to work here

Our internal communications network includes our national team and regional consultants. We’re a strong professional community, driven by our commitment to the Trust’s values and cause, working towards a set of goals which define a high-performing internal communications team. Reporting to our Head of Internal Communications, this is a leadership role within that network.

We’re also part of the Trust’s Communications & Marketing function and work closely with colleagues in other communication disciplines – aligning campaign messaging and working towards our shared goal of growing support and advocacy for the cause of the Trust. Across our organisation, we have passionate experts doing brilliant work caring for and welcoming everyone to places the nation loves – giving us wonderful stories to tell.

Your contractual location will be our Swindon offices, however there’ll be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which could include some home working as well as working at Trust offices in other parts of the country. Wherever you’re based, some travel will be needed to attend face-to-face team meetings and to connect with Trust people and places.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll shape the strategic internal communications approach for a number of programmes and areas of our work, aligning with our overall internal comms and Communications & Marketing goals. You’ll need to be a highly skilled consultant and influencer to senior stakeholders, building their confidence you can help them deliver their objectives.

You’ll also take care of delivery, with line management of an internal communications manager and channels officer to help make it happen. And you’ll be able to measure, demonstrate and continually improve the effectiveness of what you deliver.

You’ll ensure our internal communications are expertly planned and executed to cut through noise and help give our people the clarity and confidence to deliver – while building their pride in their own role. That means promoting staff and volunteer voice as well as giving them access to the information they need.
