Brief Description

There is an exciting opportunity to join our Capital Delivery Eastern team as a Planning Assurance Manager based in York. This role requires a motivated, hard-working individual to not only lead our Planning Assurance team but also to develop and grow the roles of the team. Supporting the MPP North portfolio and working closely with the Supply Chain this role will lead the planning assurance activities ensuring programmes comply with company and legislation standards and are compliant with Project Acceleration in a Controlled Environment (PACE).

Key Accountabilities

About the role (External)

  • Develop and lead the portfolio’s assurance planning function monitoring supply chain compliance to portfolio requirements and Network Rail standards including Project Acceleration in a Controlled Environment (PACE) so they meet the required standards and contractual obligations
  • Develop and provide guidance on the development of project schedules in line with company requirements to support robust delivery programmes and reportable metrics.
  • Develop and disseminate lessons learnt on schedule management and best practice to support a continuous improvement culture.
  • Lead the portfolio’s assurance support to the procurement and selection process as part of the supply chain selection criteria
  • Implement the measurement and monitoring of assurance activities across the supply chain programme / schedule submissions to provide confidence in deliverability.
  • Provide quantified schedule output assurance metrics to the project(s) teams to enable them to discharge their responsibilities.
  • Provide quantified schedule output assurance metrics to enable supply chain performance measurement(s) can be tracked, available and comparable across the portfolio.
  • Lead the interface with delivery partners on technical planning queries so resolutions are quickly found, and any delays are mitigated.
  • Develop and maintain Network Rail programmes as necessary to support delivery and provide project or portfolio teams with a detailed schedule of sequenced activities.
  • Direct the provision of Earned Value to meet company standards and provide deliverability indicators for the project team.

Essential

  • Relevant successful experience in using project management scheduling tools and techniques, including Primavera.
  • Relevant experience of using planning analytics tools e.g. fuse
  • Relevant successful experience in the management, planning and delivery of major construction/engineering projects.
  • Good communication skills at all levels and a great teammate.
  • Demonstrable skills in initiating and building positive working relationships with customers, their team and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates a passion to deliver and motivates others to work at their best.
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting the physical and mental well-being and safety of themselves and colleagues and of challenging business and safety related risks.
