Job Description:

Facilities services are now recruiting in the South Worcestershire area for a Painter and Decorator providing anopportunity to work in a busy and varied environment, alongside clinical and other non-clinical colleagues to make a positive contribution to our patients and staff experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Liaise, as needed, with staff from Trust vocational services, over organisation and support to placements.
  • Ensure that all materials including ladders, scaffolding, paints, dustsheets etc required for the job are in place and used in a safe manner to comply with current regulations.
  • Have good knowledge of the COSHH regulations as you will be dealing with liquids, some of which may be harmful if not used correctly.
  • Carry out painting and decorating as required by the Trust and as per instruction from the Head of Planning, in conjunction with the Maintenance Coordinator, following PEAT inspections. Also to undertake jobs raised through the estates helpdesk, particularly where these can be coordinated with PEAT work.
  • Liaise with clinical staff to identify, plan and schedule redecoration work required in their respective areas, ensuring that work is fitted around clinical needs.
  • Undertake painting duties which will include the correct preparation of surfaces and substrates to receive various applied finishes; this could include plaster work, filling in damaged walls and ceilings. A good knowledge of colour coordination, shade matching and material mixing to match existing finished schemes will be required.
  • Prepare surfaces for the hanging of wallpapers, including vinyls and lining paper, all to be done in a safe way.
  • Keep a stock control of all paints used and ensure that all liquids are stored to conform to the COSHH regulations.
