The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a HR professional or others to develop and apply specialist knowledge across a broad range of issues gain experience of the Policy, Case Management and Pay and Reward specialisms. These roles will rotate between Pay & Reward, Employee Relations Policy and Case Working teams on a 9-month basis providing an opportunity to gain experience in all these areas of work developing your capabilities for problem solving across these vital operational HR areas Working collaboratively, you will be actively involved in a varied range of HR people projects, provide expert advice, investigate, and resolve complex cases and shape future policies and approaches across Employee Relations and Reward.

These roles will report into three teams within the People Expert Services branch: Employment Relations policy, Employee Relations Case Working and, Pay and Reward.

Your Responsibilities Include

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and applying your knowledge of employment law, people policies including pay and reward.
  • Researching and analysing different approaches and examples of good employee policies to inform people policies and approaches.
  • Managing customer and stakeholder queries relating to people policies, including pay and reward.
  • Assisting managers in the management policy queries, management of cases including disciplinary case management.
  • Providing analysis of complex ER and Pay and Reward cases and recommendations for resolution.
  • Engaging with Departmental Trade Unions where necessary.
  • Providing expert advice to transactional HR colleagues to interpret policy correctly.
  • Providing guidance and support to managers in understanding policy.
  • Coaching and advising managers on how to carry out investigations and make decisions in discipline and grievance cases.
  • Coaching and advising Decision, Investigation and Appeal managers on how to carry out investigations and make decisions in discipline and grievance cases.
  • Participating in the Review, development and implementation of Employment Policies including Pay and Reward policy .
  • Acting as an expert point of contact for complex cases including those that have progressed to an Employment Tribunal or Civil Service Appeal Board.
  • Identifying people issues and working with business areas and HR Business Partners on effective solutions.
  • Co-ordinating and managing relevant TUPE activity across the organisations.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of the annual pay award cycle
  • Continually looking to improve the service provided by Employment Relations, and Pay and Reward Teams. Participation in wider HR projects and activity across the People & Performance Division where required.
