Job Description:

Lead the evaluation and performance challenge for relevant areas of income, cost and investment decisions with the objective of maximising POL profitability. Support of the People team, driving continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting process for function to deliver a robust plan within the guidelines and timetable established by the Financial Control team
  • Build an understanding of P&Ls, articulating the results to key stakeholders in the functional teams
  • Provide expert advice and an independent view to the Finance Leadership Team, CFO and functional lead team
  • Provide modelling support for business cases and investment decisions – Review the business cases with product and program leads and challenge assumptions and ensure compliance with governance
  • Evaluate and challenge products team on monthly performance
  • Review and challenge specific areas of overheads cost base, articulating variances and recommending remedial action for areas of overspend
  • Produce insightful month end variance analysis to inform upwards reporting to the Functional leadership team and remote Financial Control team
  • Maintain a register of income/cost Risks & Opportunities, highlight through the appropriate channels and ensure alignment in quarterly forecasts
  • Participate in cross Finance initiatives and work streams to include support for any audit work carried out

Qualification & Experience:

  • Good understanding of finance systems (particularly SAP, BI, Anaplan)
  • Computer literacy/numeracy with strong Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills
  • Knowledge of business case and investment appraisals
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to effectively summarise and interpret data to senior non-finance business leaders
  • Broad range of accountancy skills – fully qualified accountant with CCAB recognised qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • Skilled at building relationships and strong ability to influence at senior level
  • Commercial acumen gained through significant experience in a commercial finance environment operating at a senior level
  • Strategic problem solving and decision making
  • Managing complexity, ambiguity and change
  • A role model in leadership through collaboration and teamwork
