Website UK Ministry of Defence

About the job

You will be part of the team that undertakes analysis of data acquired from Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) which are permanently embodied in all helicopters for engineering diagnostic purposes. HUMS components include gearboxes, drive shafts, rotor systems and engines, with the capability to monitor individual gears and bearings. HUMS data analysis therefore provides a capability for the early detection and identification of wear or mechanical damage within these components. As the rotor systems are the main source of vibration in helicopters, the embodied HUMS is also used for rotor smoothing through Rotor Track and Balance (RTB) activities. Analysis of aircraft usage data from Flight Data Recorders (FDR) enables a range of other benefits including validation of actual fleet usage against the manufacturers Design Usage Spectrum and risk mitigation in the amendment of maintenance schedules.

As part of our diverse team you’ll work with other specialists in delivering dynamic technical projects.
