Are you experienced in avionics and in particular RADAR and Communication systems? Could you use your extensive knowledge and skills to deliver training to the next generation of the Royal Navy’s Aircraft Engineering Technicians and Officers, whilst encouraging them to be their very best? The Royal Naval Air Engineering and Survival School (RNAESS) are looking for a Specialist Instructor Officer to deliver Avionic principles/systems to include: RADAR and Electronic Warfare, Airborne Communications principles and Advanced Fault Finding.

You will be teaching adult learners who are studying for their next promotion as part of the current avionics’ systems phase of career courses. These trainees will progress to be engineering supervisors/managers on Royal Navy Air Squadrons and ships, deployed around the globe.

Formal training in Defence Instructional Techniques is available for a successful candidate if required, and further opportunities for formal civilian teaching qualifications are also available.

Teaching will be conducted within the normal working week, which is 0800 – 1630 Monday-Thursday, 0800-1430 Friday. Training is programmed for 45 weeks of the year. You will be working in a supportive environment with a line manager mentor, as well as numerous other experienced trainers and training managers. The school offers an extensive support network for all trainees which provides all pastoral care.
