EST is a key component of the Defence Support Strategy. It will enable its outcomes by building a more capable Engineering Support capability across the Defence landscape. EST will enable enhanced decision-making through improved data, digital tools and skills, leading to more reliable, maintainable and available assets at the operational frontline. EST will deliver a number of pilot activities and projects to test the applicability of ground-breaking new technologies and approaches in the UK Defence environment. Once rolled-out this transformation will unlock cash-able efficiencies and productivity improvements that are already demonstrated by industry, enabling resources to be redeployed more effectively across Defence. This is an exciting programme with the opportunity to work across front line commands and enabling organisations to deliver real change to the Engineering Support community.

The EST Business Support post provides essential support to the whole EST programme team in the performance of their day-to-day tasks and in assisting them with administrative activities. The post holder is, therefore, pivotal to ensuring the smooth running of the team outputs and the overall success of the team.

The post holder has the responsibility for conducting a wide range of differing activities; these include: programme support, personnel services, contracts, financial, Information Technology (IT) support, internal/external communications, customer engagement and quality control. The role requires an effective communicator, who is proactive, can take the initiative and produce a consistently high level of service in a high tempo working environment; moreover, the post holder needs to be a strong team player.
